How do i get my almost 3 yr old to stop biting her nails?

my 2 and 10 months old daughter wont stop biting her nails and reguarly she bites them so bad that it hurts and i have to put a band aid on her fingers... i know she got this off me cos i am a really bad nail biter... i have stopped biting mine around her (she actually tells me off when i start biting cos i have started telling her off... but still she bites) so what else can i do to get her to stop? any miracle cures? LOL

Have her dip her fingers in vinegar. Or (if she refuses) take a paper towel doused in vinegar and rub it on her fingertips.

Vinegar is really good because it tastes (and smells!) really bad, so she won't want to even put her fingers in her mouth. Even better: it's natural and not going to harm her if she ingests it.

tell her that u will give her a reward That day if she stops biting that day. (maybe a candy) . After a few months she will stop by herself.

actually, you dont need any miracle cures to make her stop biting her nails. All you need to do is to give her a pacifier, it can make her stop biting her nails. Just let her suck it so that she can stop nail biting.

You may never stop her. My Mom was 60 when she finally stopped biting her nails. I never got the habit tho. It might be genetic. The official answer is "distraction." So I'd say hug her and make a lovey huggy game out of it. Get something super interesting like a book out. Crafts perhaps? I think perfection plays a role. A snag here and there? Color in the lines instead. Follow simple mazes perhaps. Buy sewing cards. paste things and make picture frames. Lookup craft ideas online. Kids this age like to sprinkle glitter too. Make beautiful things.

Paint your nails and then do hers-let her choose the colours she likes-however hideous they might be. Give lots of praise and encouragement when she doesn't bite them-do not be critical when she does-don't blame yourself!

you can get a nail varnish which tastes horrible so she should stop!

bribery. tell her that you will give her a manicure or paint them in pretty colors for her if she stops. maybe you could put a sticker chart up and she can put a smily face or a sticker on it when she doesnt bite them. when she gets so many stickers, she should get a reward.

If you figure it out let me know I have a 6 year old that bites her nails, I have tried that stuff you put on the nails so if they bite them it taste nasty but it didnt bother my daughter, she still does it.

i have just had this with my 4 yr old and the way i did it is to stop biting mine gradualy mine have grown and i just kept showing her and now we have given up the habit. try nailvarnishes ans stickers. for every day she doesnt bite a sticker is given . also i got stuf for my daugter that u put on nails that tasts wrank. ask at ur chemist. i got mine from boots
