Foliculitis(sp)?

My friend and I have foliculitis that we got from swimming in Lake Erie. Does anyone have any suggestions as to stop the itching? I have tried clear nail polish, Band-Aid anti itch,BenadrylGel, Calamine lotion, and anti bacterial hand sanatizer. I have also gone to the doctor and he said that there was nothing that could cure it that I will have it for life. Any other suggestions?

I know about the disease, I know what can agitate it, yadda yadda yadda. I am asking what everyone else has tried in terms of relieving the itching. At least those that have it.

Interesting. I think you need a new doctor. My son got folliculitis from a hot tub. Nothing topical worked. He took a benadryl pill fora couple days while the itching was at it's worst and it seemed to help quite a bit. But what I can tell you is, it was gone within a week. I never heard of folliculitis lasting longer or having it for life.

first of all.
1- where is the lesion i.e site?
2-is it localized or disseminated?
3- is it pain full?
4-duration of the disease?
5-is it in hairy area?
6-is there any redness around it?
