Do you think the Democrats debate tonight on race really has any depth?

AIDS, criminal justice, education, taxes, outsourcing jobs, poverty and the Bush administration's response to Hurricane Katrina all lead the debate, but really is any of this really about race or just smoke and mirrors?
AIDS is a disease that is horrible but no race is immune to it, and the outpore to treat it has been huge but its cure is still just out of reach simply because its not yet possible because we don't quite know how to approach it. Thats science not race.
Criminal Justice is a touchy issue I know but realistically only a tiny number of people in prison are innocent, just like any guard will tell you, they've never met a guilty person. Yea right.
Taxes is yet again something with nothing having to do with race, we all pay them, at all levels. Outsourcing is a world wide happening and no one is immune, enough said.
Poverty is not something that affects only non whites, and as for Katrina that place, New Orleans has been waiting for it for years, its below sea level.

Ok let go through this, I'm white, and in college and graduated from a MAJORITY BLACK school where the white kids were outnumbered by blacks 2 to 1, not to mention the huge number of other minorities at the school. I'll tell you right now from exerience why there is a so called education gap, many of the "minority" students didn't try. We had great teachers of many different races who all did their best, but guess what it's the black kids who did not try to step up. This may be to the fact that many black homes are single parent, but that's not the governments fault. Yet the school had almost countless programs to help those who would try.

Now track this forward and you will see one reason why there are in some cases a salary gap. It not the governments faut, and when the canidates looked to the supreme courts decison today on race in school they treated it as if the supreme court did somethign wrong. People move around and send there kids to a local school its not the gov. fault.

You have answered your own question quite adequately. As for the so-called Democrat Forum about race and equality no one really expected anything of substance to come of it.

One only has to look at the long struggle of all races/nationalities, blacks more than most, to see that politicians will promise anything to get elected. This is true for Republicans and Democrats alike. The reality is, it takes compromise in Congress to make anything happen. You can point your finger at many of those on the show tonight as being part of the problem, not the solution.

I am pretty sure none of them actually have an answer to any of the problems. I don't know why dems don't get Al Gore to run... he created the internet and the solution to global warming!!!!!

you still don't explain why there are huge differences between average salary of blacks, average education, number of two-parent homes, percentage of people with AIDS, percentage of people in jail?

why? is it just a coincidence?

why do you think that is... THAT'S THE POINT... you run around the forrest but never look into it...

EDIT: if the people have a problem... the government is there to represent the people, therefore it is the government's problem, if not the fault of the government...

if there is a lack of value of education, as you think there is... how do we work on that... the more Americans that are educated, the better our nation will be...

I'm listening to it right now ! I think it sounds like someone lit a fire under their butts ! I love it ! Mike Gravel is the heavyweight ! He's making a real stand for what he believes in ! I'm going to watch the rest of it and let ya know.

Did you actually watch the same debates I watched? They addressed all these issues and some did better than others. none of them said that poverty only effected blacks. But they were addressing a black audience at Howard University. Please deconstruct a particular answer by a particular candidate for more specifics. I watched the debates and Kucinich, Edwards, Hillary, and some of Biden's and Dodd's answers were right on the money.

Is justice equal for minorities as far as sentencing goes?

Is the poverty rate equal PER CAPITA for minorities versus whites?

Are minority schools funded as well as non-minority schools?

If you are one that believes that racism is no longer a problem in America you have lots to learn.

Depth? Only the depth of their depravity. Such pandering is amazing to see. Not that the comments were inappropriate, just the difference between the presentation at Howard vs the debate on PBS vs the big progressive conference etc. Tailor made answers for each and every target audience. It's sickening. How about somebody stands for something for once?

the democrats had a debate tonight? Hey, I can one up that, Craig Biggio got hit number 3000, 3001 and 3002 and took the Astro's to a victory in extra innings by hustling out hit number 3002 and starting a rally that ended with a game winning Carlos Lee grand slam!

Anything that Al Sharpton shows up for will not have any merit.
