Stem cell research. This is crazy!?

First off abortion is legal and I belive this is much more of a "killing" then stem cell research. Dont get me wrong im about life and everyone and everythign has the right to live. This is why I am for stem cell research. It coudl basically in thero cure anything from any body part missing to aids to diabities the list goes on and on! The embro is basically a "potental" babby. It is not a babby and dose not know that it is because it technally hardly is life yet, jsut a bunch of cells! Like the cells on your fingers! Meanwhile the population is ever increasing by 2050 we are all apprently doomed because there is not enough food or energy to sustain this many people and here we are worried about a potential life, while billions that ARE living are suffering. And then we have people who are basically killing babbies, aborting them, but thats okay! This makes no sense. It is ludicras! Tell me your thoughts. lets get on wiht humanity and start doign somethign rightforachange

I completely agree. Stem cell research has the potential to help millions, yet we are concerned about non-viable embryos that are most likely going to be discarded anyway. It doesn't make sense to me. I think it is in our best interest to do what is beneficial for the masses. Just think of the possibilities. We could one day have a cure for cancer, AIDS, and various other illnesses!

I think if we can harness the power of stem cells, it will be the biggest breakthrough in medicine since antibiotics.

The issue is not about the killing of viable infants. Stem cells are taken from the placenta and the umbilical cord. Although the purest could come from a developing embryo--- Key word here is developing. That is before the cells have a chance to differentiate into specific cells.

The issue is that it is believed that there may be some people who would get the stem cells by unethical means. Either aborting or paying drug addicts (or some other unfit person) to become pregnant, just to get the stem cells.

Another issue is the "Playing God" syndrome.

In regards to the expanding population nature/ or man will step in and keep the numbers relatively to what the earth can handle. Think natural disasters, war, illness,etc...

We all trust in god, and he gave us brain to use and stem cells to research and help those that suffer from disease.
