Whats your opinion on Mr Bush blocking stem cell research because its "immoral"?

First of all what exactly is immoral about it and second, who cares if something thats immoral could save MILLIONS of lifes?
Stem cell research could cure cancer, heart disease, diabetes, parkinsons and even aids.
Someone needs to sort him out.

We have a scary situation on our hands! We have an Administration which is the absolute worst in my memory. I was born when Calvin Coolidge was President, and I have survived some Administrations that would make your blood run cold. NONE like this one .George managed to get us into an unnecessary war, has the blood of 3000 plus innocent men and women on his hands, will bankrupt America with a 9-10 Trillion dollar debt that our great great grandchildren will probably have to pay off; has made the USA one of the most disliked countries in the world; has left a legacy of defeat and is the only University graduate who cannot string a sentence together and deliver it without a script. Why would we think that he would permit science to go forward with stem cell research which could help mankind , by curing diseases that currently kill millions of people around the world?
I will tell you a secret. I am 84 years old, and I hang my head in shame because I voted for this idiot.

He will be sorted out in a little over 6 hundred days.

Apparently there is no moral problem with killing 10s of thousands of Iraqis; but wanting to use fetal stem cells is outrage worthy.

He isn't blocking anything but saying they can't use government money. I support it. Let the companies who will end up making billions pay for it.

I agree. He's a twit. About a lot of things.

.. . Tax payers just aren't footing the bill . Research is going on and has been . Where'd you get your degree , by the way ?

i think it is completely unethical and immoral to stop stem cell research. when i went down to belize during my break and met a woman who was a stem cell scientists. she said that stem cells are just research down there, people are getting treated for diseases, coming in paralyzed and coming out walking. bush has no idea the scientific and health consequences of stopping stem cell research in america. he thinks that taking stem cells at the embryonic stage will cause it pain or kill it. but what about a six year old girl with burns on 75% of her body? doesn't she feel pain? i just think that he's getting in the way of a major science breakthrough that could save millions and heal hundreds of millions.

You have a lot to learn.

There is lots of stem cell research going on. And taxpayer money is being spent on a lot of stem cell research. But there is no taxpayer money being spent on EMBRYONIC stem cell research, even though there is lots of research going on with EMBRYONIC stem cells.

Try researching something for five minutes before you go around on an international forum like this slandering the president.

He said he would do it if he got elected and he is. Most Americans disagree. A lot of Americans fail to get off their buts and vote for president. If people paid more attention to what these guys are saying when they run for office, we would not be stuck with them.

Because he's probably not getting any 'kick backs' from it.
I see no reason to NOT do the stem cell research; besides, what else do they do with the afterbirth, cord and etc.................

Mr bush telling me something is or is not immoral is a lot like Al Sharpton telling me he's not a racists.

He is ONLY blocking federal funding of stem cell research where the stem cells are gathered from fetal material due to the fact that many US citizens, whose tax money would be used, believe it is immoral to use fetuses for experimentation.

By the way stem cell research 'could' cure time travel too! Could is a big word.

Stem cell research isn't being blocked, harvesting embryos for stem cell research is. There is nothing wrong with using other sources of stem cells, in fact they have been proved to be better.

i have no problems with adult stem cells taken from our own bones or nasal cavities [and we all got them ],nor cord stemcells ,but draw the line at using the electro basts of embryos ,its just not kosha [thou shalt not kill]
then we enter the area of heart disease and diabetes ,by and large diseases of lazieness [lack of exersize and poor diet ,then we get to cancer and aids that are caused by cell alteration ,in the case of cancers sticking telemeres ,and aids by insertion of foreign dna via a virus deleberatly introduced via live virus polio vacinations ,[whos cure was developed at the same time the disease was introduced butheld only for the elite]
we are decieved in that radio harmonics is able to cure both ,yet be4cause it is as simple as bathing the body in sound harmonics wont give economic return ,thus the seeking of a symptom suppression drug that makes money in lue of a cure [for the money]
we are being conned as usual by the over priced collusive medical lobby that seeks to find symtom suppression but sepressing a cure
the immorality lies with thoise who continually introduce sars , bird flue and so many other ''diseases ''to sell us symptom suppression but never a cure
what needs doing is able to be done with adult stem cells , those getting thier jollies playing god ;playing with boaby bits have other adgendas ,we wont know who they are till they get thier final solution [preprogramed clones ,who give cash at command?
who knows thier adjenda ,but anything that can be done with cords blood and adult stemcells ,that they think /hope to do with the cells gotten from dead babies]
god gave each of us a life sentance , some see this life as all there is , in truth it is karma ,those with problems are the difficult cases the spirits that just refuse to ''get it'']
some one is trying to sort them out

Mr Bush is immoral. His illegal occupation of other countries is immoral. His unwillingness to provide human rights for gay people is immoral. His lack of intellgence is immoral. His blatent lies that linked Iraq to Sep 11 is immoral. His funding rich people to pay less tax while not providing adequate health care for all is immoral (I live in Australia, most of us developed countries have health care for all). His invoking of his sky god in a war against someones elses sky god is immoral.

As for embryonic stem cell research, of course it is immoral not to fund this. It is the best hope for curing the suffering of millions of people - who are alive.

As for embryonic stem cell research being immoral. If you think about it ethically, rather than religiously, it is immoral not to do the research.

But hey, Bush is one IMMORAL guy.

Either he discourages input (read: advice) from advisors or doesn't listen to them or he, himself is less than moral. He might read a little more and ram-around the country and world wasting jet fuel to cut ribbons and pat people on the back less.
Nancy Reagan saw the light when Alzhiemer's Disease made her beloved Ronnie's last years a trajedy nobody should have to endure let-alone an ex-president of the United States....And she has come out in favor of stem cell research.
Bush seems to have it in his head that he should be unyeilding and that to change his mind is a sign of weakness.
The fact is - he is weak. He even tries to appear bulkier before the cameras than he actually is, at times. Watch his arms when he's walking to or from a plane or building. If ever there was a phonier-looking baby-kisser on the campaign-trail I miss my guess and he's campaigning all the time, wants to be loved.
I don't hate the guy. I even see some of my own faults in him. But I'm not president. I just hope we do better in November 2008.
Thank You and goodnight.
(I just saw Alfie 333's comments. Give him high-fives and ten.)

I don't know what you're talking about! How could someone hurt those little, wee innocent stem cells! They're just like babies, only not. And babies are like diamonds, only better. Psshaw, how could a bunch of babies cure anything? They're not scientists!
