Why do people say they are against abortion..apart from cases of rape??

so these types are saying they are against the murder of the unborn unless the father was jerk.
that rape baby could discover the cure for cancer or aids yet these people want to murder them.
many loving couples struggle to create life yet here are 2 people who met very briefly and a baby was created wow people say children are a gift from god, doesnt that mean with rape babies god moves in mysterious ways his wonders to perform?

I agree- I have never been raped, however, I know that it was a very devastating thing- however, a baby conceived should not be killed , because of the sin of the "father". If I got pregnant when raped- it would be very hard, so I am not saying it would be easy- however I would most likely place that precious baby- that is a gift, no matter how conceived- in the home of a couple that could not conceive. Adoption has been getting such a bad name lately- I do not understand that- I am adopted and have 2 adopted children- and I can tell you my kid's birth moms had family and friends telling them to abort- if they had listened our children would not be here. Rape is horrible, and God does not bless the act- however He can use anything for His glory= and that child just may be the one that will cure a deadly disease- even if he/she does not do that- EVERY CHILD HAS A PURPOSE.

I am assuming you are a guy, Rob.....and have never had to think about the prospects of carrying a child of a forced sexual encounter to term.....of having to spend 9 months in pregnancy, visit doctors, spend tons of money...for a child you never wanted, from a man who sexually assualted you.

He does work in mysterious ways... I don't believe that a woman should have the right to make that decision..what about the baby's decision? They don't have a choice all because their mother prefers convenience ... how sad indeed.

For one, it's not your fault, nor the child's fault you were raped. And no one should decide who lives and who dies in this world.

Secondly, you're right; the baby could be given for adoption if you feel uncomfortable raising it or are not ready to.

But nevertheless, pregnancy from rape is not very prominent. Yet if the situation arises, it should be handled the right way, and not the most convenient way.

Fine. Since you have all the answers, how do you suggest we educate all the unwanted black male teens languishing in orphanages? I don't seem any of them getting into university laboratories anytime soon.

Yes, and in the brief meeting, that poor woman was forced down, or drugged, often violently attacked, and her body violated! And then you go on to say it's just God moving in mysterious ways! If that is true, then your God is a messed up as the rapist. I totally agree with you! I noticed that alot of women said that because you are a man you wouldn't understand. Well, I am a woman and totally agree with you anyways. I think about this alot and talk about it with my friends. We all came to the same conclusion that if that ever happened to any of us, we would have the baby. Is it really the baby's fault that you got raped?
I'm sorry if you don't agree but its true. I know that the woman has gone through alot and I know it would be traumatizing. But how much more painful would it be to look back and see how you killed your own child?

i think your point is very well taken that people should have convictions.

Usually when abortion is discussed the issue is regarding the life of the baby. Those who are against abortion believe that it is murder (which there is a Biblical basis for) and children are indeed a gift from God. And their scare is that if abortion is ever legalized- it would become an advocacy for irresponsible sexual behavior. Many abortions (esp. teen abortions happen) "on accident" due to irresponsible sexual behavior.

i think in the case of rape it's easy to take a strong moral stance. But i think you also have to consider the woman in this case. i think if we were in the shoes of a person who was raped we deserve to have some consideration and love. I agree with you that the most loving thing to do is to encourage the woman to have the baby and their are alternatives (such as adoption, etc.) i have read of many cases where woman who have had abortions suffer tremendous depression later.

For a woman that has been raped- i imagine that it's a really mixed bag of feelings. There's one sense where she is rehearsing the horrific act- and the baby will only remind her of that-- but there also has to be a sense of guilt if she has the abortion where she made someone innocent suffer- kind of like when she was raped. My point is: We should believe what we believe and we should strongly believe what we believe- but we also need to have some consideration.

If someone i knew was raped and wanted to have an abortion- i would do my best to dissuade her and try to share with her these other options- but i'm not going to be so "doctrinal" and call her a "murderer", i'm going to try to love with her with the love of Christ. i've thought of this question before and imagine what if it hit more closely to home: what if it was your sister or your wife or girlfriend who went through that.

i guess in a situation like this- there is a time for doctrine and a time for right action.

i agree that God works mysteriously and wonderfully. i myself was supposed to be aborted by my parents but my mom brought vitamins instead of her abortion pills on a vacation and by God's grace i was born and am serving the Lord today. So i'm all with you that life is valuable and babies should not be aborted- but i also think that we need to distinguish when is a right time for doctrinal argument and when is a right time to at least try to understand what people go through when they make a decision of this magnitude.

Man is the most deputation of the things God has created & he has never been able to find common terms on social issues in his known history, therefore, it is the religions that gave guidelines to mankind to live a good life.
So, religiously speaking, abortion in normal situations is prohibited, however, in case of rape I just cannot say!
