Where are people's priorities at?!?

I read on the Yahoo home page that scientists made a chocolate that won't melt. Why are they making chocolate instead of making cures for cancer, AIDS, the common cold, etc.?! What are your thoughts on this?

Scientists themselves may want a cure for all those terrible diseases, but unfortunately drug companies don't. The longer we maintain the need for a cure, the more money they make selling drugs that only help a little. Why develop a product that cures you major sources of income and make you broke?

ahaha....people have been trying to make those cures for ages and they are still trying. i want unmeltable chocolate!

Non melting chocolate kinda takes the fun out of it anyway. But remember, not all scientists can specialize in the field of medicine. Not everyone is cut out for that. Besides, many cures and products we take for granted today were mistakes or by-products of other experiments in non-related fields.

There are many people in this world who are wasting their money on useless stuff instead of trying to find cures or even helping the poor. We have the celebrities who sure, they work hard, but get paid WAY too much. They're out wasting their money on a huge house for just theirselves and maybe their family. That money could be put to better use. Same as athletes. I guess entertainment and pleasing the public is more important than helping those really in need.

and who's to say that their chocolate won't bring more pleasure to the world than a cold brings suffering

and why are cures to diseases so important? after all, we all have to die of something
