How can anyone support abortion, it's truthfully beyond me
3,000 aborted babies every SINGLE DAY
40,000,000 since the institution of abortion
How many of these unborn gifts of life had the cure for cancer, for aids. How many of these babies would have answers for world peace. Our civilization is still very primeval in it's ways.. we still kill our own because we are too immature to deal with our mistakes. Many people just want to have sex all day without any consequences but remember the purpose of sex and GROW UP and deal with the consequences
My question is, why do many people support the women's right to an abortion? Women obviously know what they are doing is wrong because the vast majority fall into depression afterwards so I want to know... Is it education? Do not enough people know that babies have heart beats and act humanly inside the womb.. Do not enough people know the DISGUSTING methods of abortion.. Or is it just simply ignorance? The people here that are saying
a) How many people would become rapists and murderers.. well, God gave us free will to do as we please. Women do not have that same power to give and take life
b) In the case of rape.. a baby should be punished for what a disgusting criminal did but.. I guess I can possibly see the reasoning there
c) For the person that asked me to cite the fact about depression
::"In a study of post-abortion patients only 8 weeks after their abortion, researchers found that 44% complained of nervous disorders, 36% had experienced sleep disturbances, 31% had regrets about their decision, and 11% had been prescribed psychotropic medicine by their family doctor" i have had an abortion i am not depressed about it, it was my choice it was a difficult one but it was the only choice that could be made, yes i feel sad about it sometimes but life goes on, i hope no women ever have to face the choice but it happens and that's apart of life, and until you are face with that decision you can't comment i don't think this is the place to be arguing about your moral issues with abortion . this is a place for medical questions and advice . i happen to support abortion . imagine a 13 year old girl getting raped and becoming pregnant .. are you gonna force her to have a child - an actual child for her to take care of - or are you gonna let her choose ? by bringing a new life into her world, you're taking away hers . birth is a beautiful thing - but is not meant for everyone . Perhaps it's choice. How many of those aborted would have been pedaphiles, rapists, murderers. You holier than thou pro-lifers like to play the cure for cancer side-but what about the other side-the bad side? What about who would care for those unwanted children? How many foster kids do you have?
Edit-So how do you suggest paying for all of these unwanted kids? Should we increase taxes? Should we just let them roam the streets homeless?
So not one person that is pro life has suggested any way to take care of and pay for all of these unwanted kids? Hmmm, why am I not shocked? you are so right - wish we could make everyone see that.
I personally believe that if a woman wants to kill her baby that she should have to kill herself to do it. Period. I do feel sorry for the women that are raped - been there done that - but murdering an innocent child is NOT going to help the situation. How do you know the vast majority fall into depression? Have you interviewd all of them?
What amazes me is that people like you can't just let women live their own lives! They know what is best for them more than YOU - a stranger - do.
Get over it and help the children out there that are right now living in families where they are being abused, molested, are starving and have no education! Why don't you try and help the children that are already here instead of making it your personal mission to help women who have a RIGHT to do what they feel best for THEIR lives and THEIR bodies. I imagine most of these children would be impoverished and have little education and end up hurting society. Until you have walked a day in the life of a rape victim don't feel so arrogant when asking this question.
We live in a free country where everyone is entitled to their own opinions & beliefs.
Hence your freedom to post on here.
When 1 freedom is taken from us over time others will also be lost.
Remember that! Not all abortions are done as a form of birth control. What about the women that get raped? Or those that would possibly die from child birth? What if the child, itself, would not survive out of the womb?
I think YOU need to grow up and open your mind a bit. These women that have an abortion due to these issues should not be made to feel badly because they are already in a difficult situation.
And before you think it, I personally do not believe I could get an abortion. But I also do not judge those that choose otherwise because I simply do not know their story/situation. I simply see that we all have choices...and yes it is a devistating choice but it is still the mothers choice...i dont believe there is life till it can function without major life support....so yess it may have a heartbeat but is it a human....nope just tissue i am completely against abortions as well!!! i beleive that people should not go have sex and get pregnant by "accident"! but is some cases to SOME people abortions need to be done for medical reasons etc.. then thats different! i just think there needs to be more education& resourses out there for teens about sex and pregnancy!! From your previous questions sounds like you just had surgery. How would you like someone telling you you couldnt have a medical procedure on your body. It is every ones right to abort...though I wouldn't do it I am not going to stand outside and picket people and make them feel threatened...People do know what happens with an abortion it is not ignorance they are just willing to deal with that! Think about the socioeconomic consequences of adding an additional 40 million people into society....it would be devastating to the economy....who do you think will pay for all of the additional medical, educational and possible rehabilitation needs of the "unwanted".
It's not so much the support for abortion rights as it is to the right of privacy. It is not your place to judge anyone for what they choose....If it's not your choice, that's fine....but you need to stay out of other peoples bodies!
You will never change my mind and I will never change your mind, so just leave it alone!
Steroids are an illegal substance (in this country) and shouldn't be allowed in MLB....Abortion, on the other hand, is legal in this country! I have the right to choose what to do with my body. A fetus can not live unaided, therefore can not be considered anything more than a parasite. Until life can be sustained outside of the "host" the "host" should be able to do what she wants....you can preach your holier than thou "god" stuff till you're blue in the face, 100% Athiest (you can't change my mind about that either! :) Chances are, none of those babies would have cured cancer or brought world peace. And look at all the people who grow up to be bitches and peices of ****. i agree that this is quite the controversial topic and bound to butt heads with people but I have to comment in reply to Sara's comment. While I understand the scenario you give about a 13 year old getting raped, I have to point out that that baby didnt ask to be conceived and to kill it as a result of some monster is not doing justice. Why should that baby have to pay for his actions. Very sad. In that case I would say give it up for adoption but again its a personal and controversial subject I personally have had one when I was younger and thought there was no other options.聽 I live with this everyday and when I see things like this it's like pouring salt on an open wound.聽 Do I wish I could go back and change what I did, of course I do.聽 I think any woman that has been threw one lives with regrets for the rest of her life.聽 Not to mention the what ifs.聽 I'm so grateful to have god in my life because I know he has forgiven me.聽 Knowing that I can live today with my head held high.聽 I just pray for the women who do not have god in their life and that they find him and seek his forgiveness.聽 We all have made some bad decision's in our life.聽 God ask for progress not perfection! 40,000,000?
How many of those unborn gifts would have had down syndrome? how many would have bene born to underpriveledged/underaged mothers. How many would have not really had much of a life at all? how many would become drug dealers, prostitutes, and criminals?
At least we have some form of population control. Some of those children would have turned into wastes of space. I agree with you 100%. I think it's something that should be discontinued in our country. Too many people use this as birth control. It makes me sick. Not to mention, it makes it so guys don't ever feel like they have to be responsible for their actions. How many times have I heard a girl say that the reason she got an abortion is because the father told her he wouldn't support her or the baby. So many guys are just counting on the girl they are with getting an abortion. It's so twisted and wrong. I hope somday people realize what a negative effect Roe vs. Wade has had on our culture. I think, i never understand it, but, i couldn't judge people who do this. Can you judge it? Have anyone the Truth to judge them?
Each one know her circumstances, and each one might be risponsible of her acts.
I prefear an abortion, than a ill-treated kid. That's your side.
You could also look at it as 40,000,000 unabused children, 40,000,000 kids who didn't starve to death, didn't get abducted into child soldiers or forced into sexual slavery, didn't get brought into the world with AIDS or a drug addiction and didn't have parents who neglected or ignored them their entire lives.
I've seen what is inside the womb in the first trimester and it doesn't look much like a baby. Second trimester, you have something that looks more like a child and I'll admit that late term abortion bothers me.
But the decision must rest with the woman and no one else. That's why it is called the right to choose. There's an alarming number of women on this web site who think "withdrawal" is a birth control method. When they get pregnant because some man convinced them it would be "safe", they shouldn't be forced to become parents.
As to the "disgusting" methods. Even in late term abortion, the fetus is not "aware" of what is happening. It's certainly more humane than being left in your own waste so you cry and cry and finally someone shuts you up by slamming your head against a wall. There are several cases of that and worse nearly every week on the local evening news.
And nearly every pregnant woman - abortion or full term healthy baby - experiences some depression after the pregnancy is over simply because of the adjustment of the body to much lower hormone levels. i agree with all you said 100% and i must say to the people who said about keeping a child of a rape and etc....well its not only tha rapers baby but it also your baby and i m sure that you a girlwoman gives birth to her child even from a rape ,the first moment she lays her eyes at her baby and hold her in her hands she will forget how this baby came to life.you say that by abortion we spared the world from how many murders and rapist and etc,let me ask you this,a mother who actually KILLS her child what is it?isnt she a murderer her self??so in reality abortion does not spare humanity from murders but in fact it creates murderes!i can see why a 13 year old girl would have an abortion and to be honest i would not blame a child of that age of having an abortion because herself is a child BUT why she was having sex in the 1st place from the age of 13?anyways to sum up i would like to say that they arent any scientifical evidence that show that being a criminal is located on genes a person becomes a criminal due to what he has experience to life and also in the case of mental ilness.you are not in place to say that because people have sex from the age of 14 while they are not responsible enough, its ok to kill the baby becomes it might become a criminal at some point! I dont believe in them. Its wrong to take someone's life away. Abortions should be against the law. If you get rapied you can give it away. Its not going to being back your youth. I have three kids of my own and I would not give them up. There 9 all together and I love them all. My mom is raising three of my piece of****** sister's kids because she is always in trouble with the law. Killing is wrong! Women knows right from wrong. people like you should GIVE IT A REST!! stop trying to force your views on other people. YES i know what happens and NO i dont support it but tough luck coz it is the womans choice, no one elses, and the sooner evryone gets over that, the sooner everyone can just move on!! I would guess that you are against contraception as well!!
Primeval societies did not allow abortion.
This is not a question, just a somewhat trite tirade. I'm pro-choice! If you want an answer to your question here it is:
For 3 reasons
1.Freedom and choice
2.Why is abortion "wrong"
3.The quality of life
1. In a world where we are struggling to get human rights all across the world, we can't start taking away freedom and choice, the freedom to choose if you want to have a baby, the freedom to choose if you want to go through the pain
Not always honerable Q.s but you can't oppress their rights!
2.If you think abortion is wrong, then it's probably for 2 reasons, killing is wrong and the future of the child.
Since the growing baby cannot feel anything at all then it would not be cruel and since they have never exerienced life then it would not be torture.
The point left standing is the baby's future but then if it's wrong to prevent the future of the baby's, isn't it also wrong to NOT have sex, or to wear contraception, since they are also preventing the birth of future baby's.
3. The most obvious point, How can people who want to help life be on that side seeing as having an unwanted baby will destroy a lot of lives, Maybe the baby's, unless adoption is in the picture, If not, the child will be resented and ignored, the mother will have to either take time off work or school and it could put a great deal of strain on family of the mother and father.
Those are my reasons to support choice
By the way, answering the additional questions,
(A)-People play god all the time, Doctors play god when they save people and when they kill people, Soldiers play god with people they have never met.
Why then, can't a woman decide her life?
(B)-In the case of a rape, How many people are going to adopt a baby, that they don't know who the father is?? It doesnt work that way, and if the mother was then forced to keep the rape child, she could be reminded everyday of that experience! I have thought about this quite a bit over the years. The wide spread of opinions is incredible, matched only by the passion of the activists on all sides. This is an issue that few people are even able to have a civilized discussion about. Complicating it further is that there are few that hold a black-and-white few of the issue. The majority of people in the US see abortion as a giant grey area with varying degrees of abortion considered acceptable. Very few people hold the position of unlimited abortion access or no abortion under any circumstances. Below is the process I went through to come up with my position on the matter.
First, I asked myself the question at what point does a human being obtain "personhood" and as such gain all the legal and moral protections that status entitles them to? There are some who say that the point of personhood is 28 days AFTER birth, at which point you still should be allowed to abort. In fact, there is a professor of ethics at Princeton University that actively advocates this position. This is the position that spurred 鈥淏orn Alive鈥?legislation that says if a woman has an abortion and the baby survives, that doctors cannot withhold care and let the baby die on the operating table. Others say up to the point of birth. These folks would hold that partial birth abortion is a reasonable procedure. Or perhaps just before while the mother is in labor. Or 6 months of gestation or 3 months or three weeks. I wrestled with this for a long time.
Then I looked at the issue a different way. Does human life have an imputed value or an intrinsic one? If we say that it is imputed, meaning the value is derived from something else, some outside criteria, then any one of the above positions would be equally valid. We as a society would decide what criteria to select. My problem with this is what criteria do you use? On what basis is a baby at 6 weeks more valuable than a baby at 5 weeks? Is a baby that has not yet developed a heart still a baby? This hit really hard on my wife and I when we lost one of our children. Lynne had a miscarriage a few years ago. When people with strong pro-choice sentiments gave us their condolences, they referred to the fetus as a child, even though she (we named her Grace, even though we do not know for sure if she was a she or a he. It made it easier to explain to the children what happened and easier for Lynne and I to grieve our loss) was at the same gestational point, 9 weeks, that they believed abortion was merely removing some unwanted tissue of the mother. So, the criteria used is whether or not a child is wanted. If that is so, then why?
By similar logic, if the value of human life is imputed, it can also be taken away, depending on what some person or group of persons believe that life is worth. So if you happen to be mentally retarded or black or Jewish, it would be perfectly reasonable for you to be killed off for the good of the community if they believe it. I have a friend who is paralyzed from the neck down. There are some in the world who would look at her and say that she has no quality of life or that the money and effort to support her would be better used on others. They would have her die due to her handicap. But knowing her the way I do I find the notion that she is without a quality of life to be ridiculous on its face. She is a writer, a painter, a social worker, and heads up an international charity. I鈥檇 call that a pretty good quality of life. So would her husband who married her years after her accident put her in the wheelchair. Thus, the imputed value logic is shown to me to be completely arbitrary. Following any of the 鈥減rior to this point it is not human but at this one on it is鈥?positions is likewise arbitrary and does not answer the question of personhood.
But consider the proposition that human life has an intrinsic value. That it is valuable simply because it is human life and no other reason. No measure or quantification of the value of it, it is and that is enough. It is sort of like gold. Gold is valuable because it is gold, not because we as a society stood up one day and said, 鈥渨e are going to make gold valuable鈥? Gold has an intrinsic value as opposed to an imputed value, such as paper currency. Paper currency is worthless in and of itself. It has value only because we say it has a certain value.
This position then would support a clear line between human life and not human life. With this position, you are a human at the point that you have a unique genetic code. In other words, at inception. Prior to inception, there was no 鈥測ou鈥? The male and female reproductive components in and of themselves are not a unique genetic code, but merely parts of the donors. It is only when they combine to create new life do 鈥測ou鈥?begin to be a person.
The notion of intrinsic value also carries forward throughout life. My mother-in-law was on dialysis for several months before diabetes finally took her life. There are many who would have said that she should just die and not burden the rest of us. If those persons held the position that human life has imputed value, I can understand. I however, believe that human life is intrinsically valuable and worth preserving and protecting for as long as possible. Thus, we should protect life at the beginning and at the end and at all points in between.
So, we come full circle back to the question of abortion. Should it be outlawed? My answer, since I believe in the intrinsic value of human life, is that for the most part it should. Why only 鈥渇or the most part鈥? Because there are times when you have to weigh the life of two humans and pick one to live and one to die. My sister-in-law faced such a problem once. She got pregnant from her husband and it turned out to be a tubal pregnancy. Had the child been allowed to grow inside of her, it would have killed her before the baby would have been able to survive on its own. Thus, in weighing these two lives, one would have to conclude that the baby would have to die in order to save the mother鈥檚 life. What about cases of rape or incest? I have 5 daughters (yes, that was no typo) and the thought of one of them being raped is always lurking in the back of my mind. If one of them should get pregnant as a result, the hard decision would be to let that child live. Pregnancy is not the extremely dangerous event of the past. Rarely do people die from giving birth. Many more die as a result of complications after an abortion. But the bottom line is that the child is innocent of any crime, so why punish it? I鈥檓 not saying it is an easy choice and I can certainly sympathize with those who have had to make it. Perhaps they even made the wrong choice. But, God is a loving and forgiving God, who can even forgive the taking of a human life. Which is what abortion is. I Definitely DO NOT support it!!! I hope that very soon it will be overturned!!!!! The problem is many women who get them done just feel like it's their body to with what they please and it's no one's business. They know the baby feels, can hear, has a heart beat and a brain and all the other things babies have in the womb. They just don't care.
My argument is this, and I've asked before on here. If women can choose to abort, why can't the unborn babies they are carrying choose to be born . Why don't they have say. Just because they can't talk doesn't makes them less important.
Really the sad fact is that no matter how upset we get, or who's president , or any of those things there will always be abortion. Weather it's legal or not.
Just take comfort knowing your not the only one who feels strongly against it .
And for the woman who considers unborn babies just tissue, Are you crazy? You know it's one thing to argue abortion is ok because of rape, or illness or something of the like. But to say an unborn baby is just tissue because it couldn't function without life support really crosses the line. abortion is wrong!!! CHOOSE LIFE! these poor helpless babies have no chance at a life if the mother has an abortion! it is soooooooo wrong! imagine...your own little creation being killed! imagine your own baby killed! o despise abortion! i think it should be outlawed! |
