Christians, Why do you think 'science' has such a high rate of failure?

Look around you, every day we see the failures of 鈥榮cience鈥?and its effects on our lives. In no privately funded business could the public receive so little return from such a huge investment and the business not fold. Is there one of you who does not know a loved one, a co-worker or a neighbor dying due to theses failures of those in 鈥榮cience鈥? Look at the billions that have been pumped in to Aids research. How many cures do we have? Zero. Cancer alone claimed 553,888 Americans last year. Heart disease? Another 652,486. Stroke? 150,074 What did we get for the billions and billion of tax dollars spent on these issues in the name of science? Not much more than some Ad council commercials telling us these ground shaking pieces of advice. 鈥?.

鈥淪crewing around? Use a condom and you鈥檒l be ok. Eating at McDonalds may cause heart disease. And if you smoke, you might develop cancer.鈥?br>

Good question. My guess would be as we think we know it all, we get just a bit cockey. Thats where the truble comes in, science can do great things, but only by the leading of our Lord.

Science, like religion, is not inherently evil. But both have lost their way. It's what people do with them that causes problems. People are the problem.

Trial & error is part of the human experience. If science were so wrong about so many things, why are we living longer lives and how is that you have a computer?

Just because we're mortal, doesn't mean science is worthless. Something is going to get you sooner or later, but don't blame the scientists.

If anything, the fact that cancer and heart disease have become the number one killers are proofs in favor of the advancement of science. These are diseases people typically die of in their later years. It means they got to an advanced enough age to get cancer or heart failure. It's a luxury, really.

Would you rather die of cancer at 65, or the bubonic plague at 17?

There are cures for these problems. They just aren't pharmaceutical, and can't be patented for a billion dollars. Therefore no one is telling you. Yes, most of life is a con, and that certainly includes medicine, government, finance, and school.

How long did people live 50, 100, 150 years ago? Answer that and you'll see how ignorant your question is.

People didn't die of cancer years ago because they died from the flu before they had a chance to get cancer.

Science cured that. Your god did not.

You'd be lucky to live past forty if science didn't keep you alive.

In 1980, IF a person was diagnosed with HIV they'd be dead in about 5 years. Currently, HIV patients, (properly treated) might wind up with 20+ years or more of life.

You are typing this statement/question on a computer in a temperature regulated room, with plumbing and probably have some exotic fruit or food products in your fridge and have access to aspirin to ease pain, penicillin to kill disease etc.. and still have the ability to state that science is a failure?

Do you bear responsibility for the results of your beliefs if scientists stop researching cancer and a cure is not found?

Look up Insert Technologies.....they have married nanotechnology with chemotherapy and are on the bring of releasing a non invasive, cancer treatment that can stop the expanding growth of the disease.

Clearly you haven't had anyone close to you waste away and die as a result of cancer or you would be a proponent of allowing it to thrive.

There is no hope for you....

True, science fails many times, until it is successful. It is called progression, working toward a common goal instead of kneeling in prayer to an imaginary god to do it for you. If god's power is so great, why so many deaths from cancer, etc as you have pointed out. If you ever get cancer, make sure you don't hypocritically seek out a doctor.

I think any science without honesty can cause serious problems.

What has god done for all the people who died of AIDS or cancer, or heart disease? He sure as hell didn't cure them either! And how much money do churches make annually, tax free mind you?

I do not blame science for such items. I believe that many of the organizations are "Milking the Coffers" to keep their paychecks rather than giving us the cures that have already been found. The American Cancer Society's originally stated that it would no longer exist when/if a cure is found. Thus many would be out of work and they clearly do not want that. Dr Linus Paulding had some great research that they refused to ever even look at during his lifetime. That was truly sad. There are cases of Aids being cured (according to reports) from Colloidal Silver. Those are never verified or checked because the Medical Groups can NOT patent something that you and I can "make in our homes". Many other things come to mind... Have a great weekend.

I think that the failure that you speak of is a direct result of your under-education and failure to grasp basic scientific concepts. If we all had your blind faith and devotion to ignorance, we could all be enjoying the benefits of sitting in a cave banging rocks together trying to make fire. You are a wise man, Charlie Brown.

My mother died of ovarian cancer, my father of colon cancer and my sister is dying at age 48 of colon cancer. Because of advances in science and new diagnositc testing I have much less worry that myself, my other two sisters or my children, neices and nephews and my grandchildren will die of those cancers.

Thank you science and thank you God for giving the man the ability to make these life saving scientific advances.

For your future reference, the word you want in your profile is spelled "masquerade" and your name should be "Wonderfully and Fearfully", both words as adverbs and with two Ls. Pardon what seem like overly harsh words, but if a person is not even capable of correct spelling and grammar, there is no reason to suspect that his ability to evaluate and interpret medical statistics as is any greater. I doubt that God would care to have his believers embarrass him with their illiteracy and ignorance.

P.S. I'm alive today because of science's "failures". God, at best, would have been able to offer me comfort as I died. Science has a much higher rate of success than prayer.

Why is this question directed toward Christians again? Science is great and I believe that God gives us all the tools to help one another. I wouldn't go towards the proffesion I am going for if I thought otherwise.

Well at the end of the movie there is a scene where the focus on a leaf and the explain how sometimes what kills us can also sometimes saves us meaning the micro germ...a micro germ created by God...and like blood of Jesus it cleanses us from our sins, infections, germs whatever you want to call it and it makes us righteous in God sight.

Good points you make. Actually most of science research is more about making money, then anything else.

Btw, if you look at science and research as it actually is, everything discovered or invented is first and foremost looked at as to it's destructive power. Or how it can be used to better make war.

Not individual cases of unverifiable 'cures' with no mechanism, like "My aunt prayed and her cancer went into remission", but how many diseases has prayer eradicated?

People are dying of cancer at 65 because they're not dying of polio at eight.

why don't you just not ever go to a hospital again? Don't visit the doctor. Don't go to a dentist. You will eventually figure out what tax dollars did. It probably will hurt though.

Any time you leave God out of the equasion, it is likely to fail. Not every time, but more often than not.
