Would the US governent benefit if the multi billionare companies donated more money on US schools, libraries? |
I wonder if the US governemnt would benefit if all the Multi-Billionare companies in the world donated 80% of their profits every month to the US treasury so that the US economy can get better and solve a lot of financial problems like poverty, aids, cancer research, economy research, NASA research, and global warming research, cure for cancer AIDS HIV? WE all would benefit as long as their donations were to beneficial institutions I'd love it, but the rich do not give to anything without getting something back for them. They do not feel guilt for what they help cause - poverty! NO!! You're taking away a persons incentive to get into businesss. People are in business to make money. That's it. No other reason. If they can donate and help a good cause along the way then that's great. But first and foremost they are in busines to make money. Certainly the gov't would benefit. What you describe is just another tax. It would be disastrous. The USA spends already more money on research and education then anybody else. The problem is, that the money is not used very efficient and ends up in the wrong hands for the wrong reasons. Quality is more worth then Quantity (Money). Our politicians have no time to really change our way of handling things, they are way to busy talking to lobbyist and cashing in. Yes It would be nice but don't hold your breath. You'll only pass out. If every large company paid the fair share of taxes due instead of getting complete tax breaks we'd all be better off. But the politicians won't take that chance as it is many are going to other countries to pay even less in taxes than we ask for, how are you going to fix that one? The entire premise of your question is absurd. First, there is no such thing as a "multi-billionair company". Companies are not individuals in the actual sense. Most corporations are publicly owned, which means that the stock holders or share holders benefit from the profits - that's people like you and me. Even if you don't own any individual stocks, you are still a share holder if you're putting any money in a mutual fund, 401k, etc. Corporations already get taxed at a very high tax rate. I believe that it's about 35% or higher. Corporations don't pay taxes - people do. When you take money or profits in the form of taxes from a public or private corporation, these monies have to come from some place. So, the corporations pay for taxes or increases in taxation through lower salaries & bonuses to employees, fewer benefits, and higher prices to consumers. My friend, you desperately need a basic course in economics 101 and history. What you are proposing or asking is simply Socialism and it doesn't work. We've been funding the war on poverty since LBJ's Great Society, and we have not solved the problem. Government throwing money at problems doesn't solve them. Sure, it sounds good and may make you feel good, but it simply doesn't work. The Soviet Union tried it already, and their Centralized, Socialist economy collapsed. Mao also tried something similar (Great Leap Forward) in China, and all he did was successfully and systematically starve millions of his own people to death. What happened to free enterprize? Would you wipe out all small businesses? The Corporations took over some schools in Michigan, not too long ago and it was a disaster! |
