Atheists, I'm really really curious about this...?

I'm sure you've heard of incurable diseases being cured, like AIDS, for example. What is your take on this? Does this get you ponderous or are you indifferent? Do you even believe this? What do you respond when someone who is religious talks to you about this situation? I'm only CURIOUS and I am not seeking any arguments or anything of the sort. There is no need for hatred.

If we don't know everything about AID/HIV, then we don't know all the ways it can be affected/cured.
If someone is "cured" of AIDs, does that mean God has chosen him to get better but not the 6 year old kid who just wants to stop being sick?

Disease happens at a really low micro-biology level.
As far as medical science has come, there is still so much we don't know.

In general, my take is sometimes people are misdiagnosed...sometimes people are just lucky.
Nothing magical. It's kind of arrogant to think we know so much.

So you're asking us if we believe that medical research finds cures for diseases? And when cures are found, does it make us think that gOD exists?

What does a researcher testing hundreds of drugs have to do with gOD? Did gOD guide his hand in finding the right drug or did the researcher have to try hundreds of drugs because he only had his own educated guesses to go by? Why didn't gOD just give him the right answer on the first try? Why doesn't gOD give him the cure for all terminal diseases?

Does gOD get mad when researchers find these cures and take away more of gOD's ability to punish you? Why would gOD bother handing down these "miracles" if he could just stop all disease or cure you of the ones he gave you in the first place. Could gOD care less weather you live or die?

Or is it more likely that gOD plays no role in medical research and just maybe doesn't even exist.

Why are you afraid of hatred from us? Unlike organized religion, we have and never will hate, kill, or attempt to assimilate ppl of religion. We are the one who must live under the watchful eye of your gOD. We, by default, have to fear hatred from you.

AIDS has not been cured. I have never heard of a case such as this. I don't believe in the healing that television evangelists perform. Absolute and total voodoo if you ask me. And, if you buy it. I have some nice swampland for you.

I believe in the power of positive thought, so if there is a cure where no cure was expected, I put it down to positivity and the body's amazing ability to heal itself.

We know so little about our bodies and our abilities, but to put it down to 'god' to me just makes no sense at all, and makes me think that those people who do have no desire to investigate any further.

You seek an answer, and a quick and easy one isn't to be had. One can say that the human body and its workings are often surprising. The principle source, the brain, has self-healing properties--I've experienced it myself in the wake of a tumor in the environs of that mess of goo and wiring. I would question whether AIDS is 'curable' and also that an invisible old man in the sky played any role at all in an unexpected recovery. Better to give the salute to the doctors who put all the pieces together and, whether they knew it or not, engineered the happy come-back.

I wonder how they can believe that god ocassionally makes an effort to cure random people (never amputees though) but still think we have free will

When has there ever been a case of someone being cured of AIDS? I would like you to cite your sources, please.
