Generally speaking I would not rip on a single individual but...?

"If scientists had just believed the bible from the start, they could have saved billions and billions of taxpayers dollars, and we probable would have had a cure for AIDS and cancer by now."

Answer given to a question here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

Could someone please explain to me how we would have a cure for AIDS and cancer now if scientists believed in the Bible?

Considering some scientists are sincere, faithful, devout Christian churchgoers, the premise seems terribly flawed to me.

The only way to reconcile it is if the asker concedes that all the really awesome talented scientists don't believe in the Bible, since the scientists of faith haven't been able to solve these horrible problems without their help.

There's something I'd like to learn, too.

If scientists believed the Bible, then they would use their atheist mind tricks to get everybody else to believe the Bible. Then God would be happy, so he'd cure AIDS and cancer.

That's the best I can do, but I'm also an atheist, so I don't really know how God works.

well, if it's old testament, we probably would have stoned the demons out of the people who were being attacked by satan in the form of cancer cells and the aids virus, therefore eliminating them, right?

Well we probably would sill have about a 30 year life expectancy and you wouldn't have time to develop those things. The flu would do you in.

You're referring to people who think prayer is a valid cancer treatment, but refuse to acknowledge that the scientists who create new therapies were given the intelligence to do so by the same Gd who they are sitting on their butts praying to instead of being constuctive with what they were given.

Oh no, I'm one step away from understanding their circular logic. (backing out of y/a...)

Good grief. This from a religion that thinks God sent AIDS as some type of punishment....

I think it was just a speculation on how R&D funds are best spent. If we spent more on looking for a cure than on how we evolved...etc.

The argument breaks down when you consider that these cures might very well come from our study of evolution, but I think that's what the person might have been trying to say. Pretty similar to those who say we spend too much on NASA.

What is your basis for believing that the church would have found a cure for Aids ?

Remember , the bible was written by ignorant superstitious people who had no insight or knowledge of anything , except what came out of their superstitious imaginations .

Compare the life that they lived , and ours . The difference is owed to science .

They would have perfected prayer. God would have started giving amputees their body parts back too.
Snarf!

Good grief, what a retard.

One could believe it was a miracle that scientists found an enzyme in pregnant women that is a powerful weapon against the AIDS virus. Perhaps, it was from above. I believe He's helping us along in His own way.
