If your focus in life on changing the world or accepting it for what it is?

I think it is impossible to change the world, and injustice and negativity are impossible to eliminate.

I think it would be a lot healthier if people just relaxed and stopped worrying about saving the environment, curing AIDs and breast cancer and eliminating poverty. You can never make life in the world perfect. Why can't more people realize that and stop being stupid?

The first word was meant to be "is".

Perfection is impossible--but what is perfect is striving for betterment and being ideal individuals. The only way to change the world is to come together in union all egos aside and agree. Reality is what it is. My focus in life isn't necessary changing the world, but rather changing my world. By changing my immediate world, the world of those around me will also change. But I have to first start with myself. Realize my flaws and imperfections, take responsibility, and strive to live with all the goodness of my soul. Life is a circle. The mind is a powerful tool. Harness it and you will be amazed.

Stupid you say? stupid is as stupid does. How can you say oh just accept that the environment is screwed and do not worry about aids and breast cancer and eliminating poverty.

As I often say:
"What has Reality ever done for me?"

There will always be those who disagree with you and that actually is a good thing. Without those who are unwilling to accept the idea that we live in the best of all worlds we could never move forward as a society or even as a species.

On the other hand, if such an attitude was widespread no one would ever accomplish anything in the day to day existence.

As a result, society needs a healthy balance of both approaches. Without either one we would come to a standstill.

While these things you have mention may not be fixed in our lifetime, what we do now has a direct bearing on the future. One person can change the world. Their impact may be small, but the repercussions of their choices and actions may end up affecting the world for years to come. I would rather try to change what I see as wrong with the world, than sit idly by and let things come what may.

Young people have always rebelled against the evils and hypocrisy of the world, and I hope that they always will. IN the 60's we fought against the pollution of our country and the Vietnam War. The war was ended, and the pollution was greatly reduced. If we all had your attitude, we would be drinking filthy water, breathing toxic air, and are life expectancies would be less than our parents was.

Now many patriots are fighting against the illegal alien invasion of our country, and WE WON'T BACK DOWN! We will save America.

What? I am flabbergasted that this question encompasses so much negativity.
We can never relax while there is still oppression in the world, Keeping you own yard clean is a wonderful start. As for AIDS and cancer, there will be a cure. Poverty is almost nil in the USA and if we are passionate about changing that, then why can't we try to help people out of poverty by giving them the tools and skills it take to succeed. In the meantime if we all give to charities, then that's a start.
It is not stupid to have a dream of a better world Martin Luther King did and things changed. Columbus did and discovered a new world. Jonas Salk, Marie Curie, Mother Theresa, and many more than are known and unknown. Certainly you wouldn't call them stupid, or would you?

I try to change the world every day by being nice to everyone. Holding the door open for a stranger, helping someone carry their groceries to the car, etc. Every act be it simple or large is significant and is worthwhile.
