Since fornication and adultery has harmed society in so many ways, why is it legal?

Rampant fornication has caused so many problems to our society-it DOESN'T stay between two "consenting" adults; it's caused STD epidemics and tons of broken and unstable families with crime ensuing which have been a burden on society even for those who weren't involved in the "consenting" act. Face it- fornication affects more than those just involved. Condoms haven't fixed these problems. Want to cure AIDS and restabalize families? Grow up and demonstrate some self-control, stop screwing out of wedlock, and when you get married get your tubes tied. It's that simple.

Although it would be hard to reinforce this, it doesn't mean it isn't idea not worth being open too. Different doesn't mean bad.

Socrates and Plato had some good ideas, maybe can take a hint or two from them by placing reason above hedonism, after all, we ARE adults.

And yet, we use millions of tax dollars to cure AIDS.

I don't care if two people are passing around the Ebola virus. What goes on in a bedroom between two people is none of your business and none of the government's business.

Are you worried about AIDS? Don't have unprotected sex. To really be sure, don't have sex at all. That's your choice. You don't get to make choices for everyone else.

People have the right to make their own decisions - good or bad. Don't give the government more power by making them think that more of our freedoms should be taken from us.

That is how you see it but I dont. How can you regulate something that is perfectly natural? There is nothing wrong with sex - people just need to educate themselves to protect themselves. Why would a married person get their tubes tied? That contradicts everything you stated previously.

Actually, ducks have caused more death from influenza. Though marmosets hold the record for death because they were the source of the infection, spread by fleas which became the Black Death and killed about 1/3 of Europe.
Something should be done about war, ducks and marmosets.

It is not the sex. It is deceit, which does not require adultery, that causes harm to others, so in that sense you are right. But I can't think of anything that responsible, consenting adults can do that could possibly be illegal.

The societies that have the least moralistic approach to sex and sexuality tend to be lower on the metrics of disease, abortion, teenage pregnancy than those with a highly moralistic approach that is divorced from reality.

Gee...how many people have been murdered in the name of religion...specifically the Christian religion (e.g. the Crusades). How many abortion clinics have been bombed by "right-wing moral majority" types? So why is religion (specifically Christianity) legal?

Face it...fornication is one of the least of our worries. Can it cause problems? Of course it can! So can eating too much fast food! So can talking on your cell phone while you are driving! I dare say the percentage of fornicating acts that result in "real" problems are pretty darned low. Meanwhile, there are a lot of happy fornicators out there who would be much less happy if they weren't fornicating.
