Does anyone really believe activism changes anything? |
Some of these Hollywood stars are outrageous...the campaign to end poverty? Hahahahaha, what a joke! Let's see, billions have been spent to cure AIDS and many other sorts of diseases and cancers...to no avail. The environment...well, there's been speculation that all the global warming fears are unfounded, along with everything else. When I was a kid, I got a tree from McDonald's and planted it, thinking it would change the world. At least, that's what the campaign promoted. Activism will not create a utopia, but if it were not for the activism of people like Fredrick Douglas, Susan B. Anthony, Clarence Darrow, M.L King and others, things would be far worse. I think you're right that's why i say "we the people" need to get together and form some mighty big corperations and play the game and reap the benifits with the "big boys" Jesus was an "activist." In the short term, yes, but over the long haul the only thing that changss things on a relatively permanent basis is role modeling behavior by leaders or people respected enough to notice. Spoken like a true fascist. Activists are a bunch of group thinkers that only focus on meaningless garbage that they perceive to be a problem. And of course there really isn't a problem to the rest of us, but when they get their panties in a bunch they can make up some awesome half truths. Most activists are housewife's with nothing else to do or effeminate men that are trying to impress the gals. As long as the only time they are wasting is theirs, go on protesting and we'll keep on changing the channel. It can change the world and has. Just look at the civil rights changes and the women's suffrage. It depends. Activism isn't futile. Throughout history there are examples of people who were activists and changed the world. Ghandi was an activist first, but he painted a compelling, better, vision for the Indian people. Martin Luther King, Jr. was an activist and did the same thing, as did Nelson Mandela and Mother Theresa, and even Bono. Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, Martin Luther, Jesus were activists in their time. Joel Olstein (as his father) you can consider an activist as well. The key difference? They understand that you have to attach an idea, a vision, to someone's soul. yes, for the worse. |
