Should we spend so much money trying to cure a.i.d.s?

I think that all the money going in to aids research should go into cancer research. Aids can be prevented easily besides the rare blood transfusion cases. Why help the drug addicts and the people who dont use protection with all this potential cancer curing money.

Darwinism wins out anyways. Cancer cure is needed much more otherwise the strong die as well as the weak and we get nowhere.

I understand the other point of view, and I wish that no one got AIDS and had to suffer with the disease. I also understand that there are some bad situations that occur in which innocent people are affected by this tragic disease. I don't want vengeance on those people that made some mistakes in their life.

However, for the people that are careless and make stupid mistakes, there are consequences for our actions. And AIDS is primarily spread through carelessness and stupid mistakes. On the other hand, people that acquire cancer quite often don鈥檛 do anything that is careless or stupid to get it.

I can tell you how to cure AIDS, but people don't like my answers.

1. Wear protection during sex, or perhaps we should actually be moral for a change and avoid fornication and adultery. Since there is nothing that I can do or say that will change this fact, let me offer another idea that people won鈥檛 like.

2. Perhaps the rights of privacy in this situation should be outweighed by all of the millions of human lives. How can a rational person dare say that our privacy is so important that millions of people can continue to die for it? I'm not talking about all of our privacy, but just enough of it to eliminate this disease. If we were more mature, responsible and wise, we would make it mandatory for people to undergo HIV / AIDS tests on a periodic basis. And if you were found to have it, we should eliminate those people's ability to have sex. For the HIV drug users, we should use more drastic measures, perhaps isolating them from the rest of society perhaps until they die.

I think we have tried to find the cure for AIDS long enough, and I think that we need to be brave enough to institute the cure that we already know will work, without the lose of more lives.

I am also well aware of those millions of children that have AIDS, and I am deeply sorry for them, but those children are likely to have unprotected sex when they are older unless we stop their ability.

Tell the .... billion or so people in Africa that AIDS can be prevented easily.

You're an asshole. Do you know anyone with AIDS? Do you know any CHILDREN who have AIDS? I take it you don't. You talk like everyone with AIDS got it because they were using dirty needles or being whores.
Get an education. Children are born to AIDS infected mothers every day - innocent children that need a cure. The major population spreading AIDS in recent years was white, heterosexual women. So get a clue and stop being so judgemental.

What about AIDs that is transmitted from mother to child? How about the woman who didn't realize her partner was cheating on her? How about the poor man or woman who was raped by an assailant without protection? How about the paramedic or firefighter who accidentely gets stuck by a needle? How about the child that was a victim of incest? How about the silly teenagers who thought the other was a virgin? What about all the people in developing nations who don't have the education that we do?
Should we just leave them all to die???

It is sad to say but there probably won't ever be a cure to these diseases. There is more money made in the treatment than there is in the cure. Think about it. These pharmeceutical companies are making BILLIONS of dollars giving people medicine to help heal. If there was a shot that was a cure, they wouldnm't make any money. It is sad to say that businesses are looing more into their pocketbook than the welfare of humans. If there is a cure it will be far down the road. And to tell you the truth i bet there is a cure that one of these companies has found they have just kept it confidential.

There probably is a cure for cancer and aids....doctors make waaaaaaaaaaay to much money off the terminally ill. After all the money made in donations, where do you think the money goes but to the fancy schamcies who solicit for more money....not to the cure, but that is just my opinion

Why not spend money trying to cure AIDS and Cancer. They are both diseases a wide variety of people die from.

I most certainly do think money should go for an aids cure. I have been told by a doctor that they have already founds cure for aids, but the disease is so profitedable (sp?) to the drug companies that it will never be marketed. I hope this is not true.
I don't know how they will ever find a cure for cancer because there are so many different kinds. Isn't it wonderful that there will be no sickness or disease in heaven. No one will ever have to be sick again.

Excuse me, you need to educate yourself regarding AIDS/HIV. Easily preventable? Hmmm, maybe you can explain that to children who contracted it from parents? Or health care workers who contracted it from being stuck by contaminated needles? Drug addicts and people who don't use protection are not the only victims!

Throwing more money into cancer research? You need to do some homework on that too...billions over the years have gone into that and you know what? They can cure some, but don't want to because the drug and health care industry make too much money off of cancer patients.

AIDS/HIV is an epidemic, it is in every country of the world and it is growing faster by the year. It is very important to put money into education, prevention and cure.

You can't say you can prevent AIDS 100% for yourself. If you came down with the virus you would be singing a different tune.

AIDs is a virus that attacks your immune system. It kills the cells of your immune system that identify and tells the system what to attack, it is transferred through blood, semen, etc. This makes you prone to infection. When we find some sort of vaccine against AIDs, it can be over and done. Indeed AIDs can be stopped easily, that's the point though.

Cancer cells are basically deformed cells caused by a range of different things, and can be at any point of your body. This includes drugs so you are categorizing incorrectly. All cells in your body reproduce, so therefore a cancer cell will reproduce. Until you can find a way to make cells stop growing, cancer is unstoppable unless you are doing some kind of treatment which isn't 100% effective.

So, AIDs is a virus, coming from the outside world, not a cell in your body that is working against what it lives inside your body.

if you really think about it, you think about the one that's more severe. i think in this case, AIDS is more severe than cancer as AIDS can be passed on to different people without them realising it, and people with AIDS tends to be growing every year. it puts other people's lives at danger, and the more people try to find a cure for it, the more lives you'll be saving. true, a lot of people get cancer, but there are foundations out there trying to find cures for cancer. in actual truth, AIDS started out from a syringe, and since then has spread to thousands of people all over the world. its not that people who have AIDS are drug addicts. thousands of them arent. people get AIDS through having sex with someone with AIDS, people can also get AIDS just by kissing someone with AIDS, AIDS can be passed on to newborn babies through pregnancy, as well as many other ways people can get AIDS. you'd know that if you did your research on AIDS instead of having a very biased view by other about it. you can say the same thing about lung cancer. people get lung cancer because they smoke for many years or are around people who smoke. both cases, they are putting their own lives at danger by giving themselves the higher possibility of getting cancer. other cancer is contracted through other ways without realising. which would you prefer? curing people with cancer that can't be passed on to others or curing people with AIDS which prevents others from getting it? personally, i'd go for the one that helps to prevent others from contracting it.

AIDS/HIV is a world-wide pandemic. What you are doing is blaming the victims and ignoring the larger issue of how a health problem of this magnitude affects us all. You need to educate yourself quite a bit more about the ways HIV is transmitted and who the victims are before making such broad and innacurate statements. You seem quite willing to ignore over a million children with AIDS, for instance.

Only being willing to treat those you deem worthy is a pretty slippery slope and I'm not sure you want to go there. Many cancers are related to life-style choices like smoking or occupations- should we write off those people as well? After all, people know smoking causes cancer, so why "waste" research money on them? Why treat anyone with a heart attack who ever ate a fatty meal?

I would say your own greatest medical need is for a heart transplant and some sort of brain booster.
