The virus has the ability to mutate to avoid most conventional drugs. The one thing the virus cannot hide from is the natural immune system. The initial round of cells which come into contact with the virus are destroyed. It takes about two weeks for this to happen. The immune system then regroups and works quite efficiently although the virus is still there. This process can go on for a long period of time before HIV will develop into AIDS.
Now, think of the immune system as tracks in a recording studio. The first track has been lowered but the next track has begun working. After the second track is lowered to a certain point the third track begins working. You get the idea. Hypothesize that we can slow the immune response without hindering the power of the immune system. In other words the immune system is too good for its own good sometimes so we will slow it down and it will be able to destroy virus before the virus enters the immune cells. This new approach does work. The medical term for these new type of drugs is called entry inhibiters. The top AIDS researcher in the world could explain how peppermint oil lozenges can work the same way as these new drugs. Peppermint oil lozenges could be an alternative to help people who can't afford the new drugs or those people in third world countries. The virus could be contained in this way.
My best hypothesis for a cure for AIDS would be to first reduce the virus load (this can be done with something as simple as alcohol ) in the bloodstream and then use this new approach to slow the immune response. You would need to use these first steps on a consistent basis along with a good diet and excercise to rebuild the "tracks" which have been lowered. After a period of consistency then the next step would be to introduce a vaccine into the bloodstream ( even a non-specific one ) which would help rebuild the immune system. It could in fact be possible to have an immunity to the virus although there is still virus hiding in tissue as well as fat cells in the body. This would in essence be a cure for AIDS.

I wish i dont like peole suffering, but today March 23, 2006 no there is not a cure. Look many people get it threw blood tranfusion's and other way kids born with it its purly the devil's work and its bad. There is no cure not today but they have found ways to slow it down untill someone can figure away to stop this bad sickness. How that a trillion dollor question it cant not now does that answer your question. Some kind of cocktail not the one you drink either somebody will come thur. If they can send a man to the moon that sure can find this cure.

It's a virus.Viruses mutate so no one med can beat them all.It can be treated,and I'd assume that eventually even without being cured the life of an infected person can be prolonged until old age.But cured,no,not with current medical knowledge.

there is no cure for aids and probably never will be. what's worse is all the treatments we've developed allowing people with aids to live longer, also allow the disease to thrive in a much more stable host. there have been a few intances of super aids, basically people with aids ahving sex with other people with another kind of aids, and in doing so, developing a new strain.

so it's really only a matter of time until we have an aids that can be communicated thru air like a cold or kissing someone on the lips the way you would communicate oral herpes

there is no cure for aids. and by the way what happens if someone stood on a needle or was raped and they got aids should they have no right to live. the person who the answer b4 me u are discriminating against someones health problem or wat about babies whos mothers have aids and they have got it should they have no right to live.

There is no cure for Aids, but there are drugs that can slow down the HIV virus, and slow down the damage to the immune system.
But there is no way to get all the HIV out of your body.

There are other drugs that people can take to prevent or to treat some of the infections.

Scientists are hopeful that a vaccine against the HIV virus will be found in the near future.

There is one thing being suppressed by the drug companies. It is called ozone treatment. It is available in Europe and India and I have heard it has cured aids. I do not know more details myself. I do not have it so I have not studied it more but I know the principles behind ozone treatment and believe it could work.
