why would we want to?

give some of the most loved and famous people AIDS so more people would care about curing it

Maybe redirect some of that millitary money we're dumping in Iraq, and Afghanastan, and millitary spending, towards Africa. Raise taxes? Have the major economic countries cancel 3rd wrld debt. Have the subsidize education programs, vacinations, treatments, and condoms

Education is the only answer

It will become a priority when politicians, their loved ones, and UN officials and their loved ones start dying from it. Until then, it's "someone else's" disease. The politicians and UN people talk tough, but it doesn't personally effect them. Same story with the pope and the roman catholic church. They say don't use birth control (ie: condoms), don't be educated about sex, and then they close down hospitals and withdraw missionaries and doctors from the hardest-hit HIV-AIDS regions and nations.

Who knows?

I think it is just going to take time.......

I believe it may have begun. It started at the last AIDS conference when Bill and Melinda Gates got involved. It just took them to get involved so that all AIDS researchers will promise to work together ( one of the stipulations for them receiving a grant ). It's unfortunate all these great researchers couldn't do this on their own.
