If God sent AIDS as a punishment is it evil to try to find a cure?

Mountain Gal, don't rush so quickly to assume. A question, ie. "If..blah, blah, blah..." is not a statement. A question does not automatically imply a particular belief. Think about it.

AIDS is not a punishment by God. That is ignorant thinking. No one deserves to be in the situation where they have AIDS. We need to support a cure. If you don't believe me, then why are innocent children born with this terrible disease.

Nope, if God did sent AIDs as a punishment, which I do not believe He did, there would be no cure to be found on earth.Only He would have the antecdote.

No its good to challenge god.

Well first, how do you know he sent it as a punishment, what proof do you have of that? Where did that come from, it is sinful to hate and whoever told you that is not only full of anger but could quite possibly be Satan.

the united states government 'sent' aids here.

Rather is it evil to make such a claim to begin with?
Who spoke for God and said this is so?

No, I do not believe that it would be evil to try to cure Aids.

If God sent AIDS as a punishment for evil, it would only affect evil people. DUH.

Hmmm....AIDS is nothing more than a virus. Not a punishment from god. The virus invades the body by attacking T-cells. Scientists are working on a way to counter that.

Evil is going around imposing your beliefs on others and not respecting others. Remember Ted Haggard (closet homosexual, meth user)

Sickness is not from God its from satan get your facts straight

I don't believe AIDS is an act of God. I have yet to see God send judgement without a warning.

AIDS is just the natural consequence of people being sexually immoral. We know we got it from monkeys, likely someone raped a monkey. so if he/she passed it on, then it's their fault. not God's.

"By his stripes we are healed". there is a cure for every disease, by God and by man, we just haven't found all the cures by man yet.

Some day your going to look at that question and be embarrassed.

God didn't send AIDS as a punishment. There are many diseases and once a cure is found for one - a new one crops up. This is the cycle of life. The question itself is bias and indicates a very closed mind. I assume you mean because some people are gay and hence God punishes them with AIDS? Hmm, there have been gay people as long as there has been the human race - and AIDS is a relatively new disease in the scheme of things. AIDS is not only sexually transmitted - it is also transmitted through blood and other bodily fluids. The disease is not bound to a particular population or people. To say that God sent AIDS as a punishment would also mean he sent every other disease known to human kind as a punishment. Not likely.

Maybe the Devil sent Aids to earth, so finding a cure would be doing Gods will.....

Its a pretty big step to claim to know the purposes of God. I think the purpose of life is to exercise our free will. And if we freely choose to relieve the suffering of our fellow man that would surely be concidered to be good work. So, No.

After all good works are the only treasures which can be taken to the next life.

Now i believe that this might all depend on what your definition of "evil" is also just to add a thought to this question " If God sent AIDS as a punishment is it evil to try to find a cure and if a cure were found would it be evil to use it?"

God did not send AIDS as punishment. Don't be ridiculous.

Remember: anyone can get it, even children. What have they done to deserve getting AIDS, hmmm? Nothing.

Nature creates diseases and plagues when there is overpopulation to get the numbers down. We find a cure for AIDS, another disease/plague will rise.

This argument has been used for every medical advancement at least since Edward Jenner discover how to prevent smallpox. It used mostly by ignorant, overly-religious people.

Stop reading the radical Christian journal. What's next God sent a tsunami to Thailand to punish non-believers. Pat Roberts own words.
It's part of life. We have diseases, viruses, bacterias, and so forth.
Find a cure and I will guarantee you do not go to hell.

It's 2007 not biblical times.

punishment for what?

i know you were referring to homosexuality but even if you believed that, there are other ways of getting the disease so it still would make no sense

***** no. I'm sure you think this because homosexuality is "evil" which is what is believed to be the cause of AIDS and is really high in the gay population. Or maybe you think being promiscuous is evil also. If there were no STD's than it wouldn't be so bad. but AIDS is "punishment" because god said not to ***** your friend and then your neighbor, and then their friend, etc. Hey guess what! Why don't you grow the ***** up!

God did not send AIDS as a punishment. Anyone who thinks He did so has a very low opinion of Him.

What a horrible thing to say--where did you
get the idea that God sent AIDS (or any
disease) as a punishment. You people have no concept of who God is. A statement like you just made probably came from an overly-zealous preacher that despises all homosexuals. To spread lies like that about God is much worse than almost anything a person can do.

Satan not going give man the cure for Aids

God did not send AIDS as punishment. God didn't send any diseases as punishment. It is not evil to try to find a cure for any disease.

You might be right.

Yes, trying to find a cure would be going directly against the will of god.
