AIDS crisis is spread by promiscuity and that the cure is already in the air, so why aren't people waking up?

Yes, I know that children can get it congenitally, people can get it from their unfaithful spouses, and that people can get it from needles. So as you can see, even innocent people have to pay the price for the sins of others. It鈥檚 a terrible thing, but if enough people would just start being monogamous again (I don鈥檛 understand why that鈥檚 so hard, yes I have a sex drive to sleep with someone I'm not even married to just like everyone else but that doesn't mean I have to act out on it in real life, just like we all have that anger drive to shoot someone, but that doesn't mean we should do that in real life) AIDS could disappear within a generation. So why aren鈥檛 people waking up to this?
I know you might get offended because this is a touchy subject, but if we keep ignoring the truth and deluding ourselves, we'll never be able to solve the problem and things will just get worse.

I don't find sex icky, I just find promiscuous sex icky. That's like calling a person whose against DUI being against drinking period. And wanting to fix such problems wouldn't make me a conservative, it would make me a progressive.

Good question. To be :abstinent, or monogamous means restraint and self control and a lot of people don't want to exercise either. They're too selfish to think beyond their immediate desire to have what they want when they want it and don't care about the consequences of their actions. When you point this out, you're considered to be old-fashioned, judgemental, intolerant or a member of the religious right.

do you feel better? it is not proven that "promiscuity" is what is causing AIDS TO SPREAD. what are your sources?

Because, unfortunately, the vast majority of the people are ignorant and lust-driven. That will never change.

because many people are controled by their urges and can't control them selves. people are selficsh and think only of instant gratification.

there is no cure. a virus cannot be cured. its impossible. there is a vaccine, which in no way helps the people who already have AIDS.

This seems like a rhetorical question, or like you're venting....

is mankind just too selfish to practice some self-control? a little self control in this department could literally save lives- both emotionally and physically.

Or we could just use condoms and not have to suffer from sexual frustration because some people aren't careful. I love it when social conservatives try to mask their disdain for sex with public health concerns. You could give a flying **** about AIDS. You just find sex icky.

And by the way, not everyone has the urge to shoot people. Stop assuming your psyche is the same as everyone else's.

A little research on aids and you will learn it is not that simple, 3rd world countries and the incubation period for the aids virus will not allow for this to disappear in a generation only a cure or world wide use of an effective vaccine will wipe out aids

I don't think that anyone is deluding themselves about it, I just think that people don't want to think that they can catch it. People aren't perfect, and we succumb to sin. Aids is going to be around for a long time because of many factors, not just because of promiscuity.

You cannot easily change human behavior, even despite deadly facts. people like to have recreational sex, unprotected too ( look at how many single unwed mothers there are ), so STDs go along with the territory. The innocents do pay a price unfortunately as emotion in the heat of passion often overtakes logic. The sudden rise in cases ( after years in the decline due to aggressive outreach programs) in the homosexual community where it's been a problem is due to the throwback of promiscuity, no condoms and crystal methamphetamine. Aids once again has taken a back seat to other items on the national agenda, you do not see many Ryans of the world dying of AIDS as of late due to other fear pandemics that are current hyped up by biologists / scientists. I am sure there are cases as such, but thy are not getting the media attention, and media attention is what motivates other for action. As for ther cure, I doubt they will find a cure, they have not for Herpes and there are more users infected with that than AIDS ( except Africa and India ), so I doubt AIDS will be cured in my lifetime.

Drug addicts do not have the ability to abstain from their behavior. They are ADDICTED> They need to get high or they will be sick. They shoot up in alleys with others and then pass their disease to their mates, who pass it again and again through many types of interactions. You can't judge people like you are doing. Children are born with this disease, people are transfused with tainted blood with many dieases . YOU may oneday lose a loved one to it to! I have! We are educating the young and the old, the sick and the healthy. It is working. It will continue to work. We will continue to lose loved ones to this and many other blood transferred disease. Just love the ones you love and pray for their futures. Teach the children, abstain from drug useage. Pray for those who are afflicted. SORRY, BUT THESE ARE MY FEELINGS ON THE MATTER.

So, why are people promiscuous...They claim they cannot help it. Or they want to have many excuses for them. Or they cannot get anybody to marry the,. Or they do not care. Or they do not think of STDs at the time of act. OR THEY DO NOT THINK AT ALL.
Promiscuity is a big reason for AIDS and other STDs to spread, but not the only one. I think it is also irresponsible to donate or sell blood if you are promiscuous or drug user or in a risk group

Abstinence is abberant to the human psyche, and while individuals may be able to remain abstinent or monogamous, whole cultures will not change, nor will human nature. Some African cultures (where AIDS is spreading the fastest) judge a mans virility on the number of partners he can keep satisfied. Teenagers are wired to think about almost nothing BUT sex; they have more hormones coursing through their bodies from 13-18 than we have in the entire rest of our lives put together.

While monogamy is a sure fire way to prevent AIDS, it is unrealistic to expect all of the societies in the entire world to conform to YOUR norms, or moral beliefs. Abstinence and monogamy should be encouraged, but safe sexual practice should be emphasized. If you were to tell a group of men in a patriarchal virility based culture they can't have sex with whomever thay want, or they'll die, they'll risk death. It would be nice if we could all save sex for marriage and live in harmony with nature and if all war ended and we all joined hands together and sang songs about the eternal love of God, but it won't be happening anytime soon. AIDS is real, and we have to be realistic in fighting it.
