Does anyone else feel like there is a cure for diseases like cancer aids or is it a way to control population?

I have watched now 4 people I care for deeply die of cancer in the last 5 years. to me it just seems like with all of the inventions we have today someone could come up with a cure, but if we had a cure what would happen to the population. So is it really there is no cure or is it population control

I understand how sensitive the dieases are but come on look at what the internet can do, cell phones

I believe there is a cure for Cancer and the reason it is not revealed is because the jobs and money that would be lost if it were. These pharmaceutical companies are afraid of losing money and jobs. I too have lost friends and family to cancer and it is not a disease that is fun to watch. It is a real shame how much more important money is compared to human life.

Yes. I also believe the lousy medical coverage this country has and lousy prescription coverage is also a way to control the population. I came to this conclusion when I became ill with Lupus.

I personally feel that it has more to do with money than population control. If these horrible diseases were cured, the pharmaceutical companies would make less money. As long as people continue to have terminal illnesses, they will continue to take expensive treatments, which ensure the pharmaceutical companies will continue to make lots of money.

no cure for some cancers (yet). There is a cure for Aids.. .wanna know what it is??? It's BLEACH! That's right, bleach kills the virus. They pros say that because we can't drink bleach, the pharmacists have to do a combo with something else. But really , it's just population control.

I hope not that would be pretty sick. Though it must seem that nobody is making any effort to further cancer drug testing, especially if you have had too watch so many people you care for die from cancer in such a short time.xx

I'm very interested in other's opinions as I have often thought the same thing. If there is a cure, wouldn't the trickle down effect pretty much destroy the American economy?

I watched my mother die of lung cancer last year even though she wasn't a smoker. We went to the Oncologist on Thursday. We planned chemo on Monday. By Friday evening the cancer had spread and her kidneys and liver were gone.

Cancer is a genetic disease. A single gene in your own DNA is turned on or off and your own cells grow out of control, killing you. The older you are, the more carcinogens you are exposed to, the more fat you have, or exposure to a virus; the more likely you are to get it.

In order to kill cancer cells, the toxin would have to kill your normal cells as well. We are getting better, but no where near a cure.

As far as AIDS is concerned, the virus is a fairly delicate one. Unfortunately, in your body the virus shrouds itself in a membrane making it impossible for our drugs to target it. We can slow it by slowing the other mechanisms in your body; but not kill it. It hides deep in the bone marrow. To kill it, all of your blood and your marrow would have to be removed. I wish someone was doing research on removing the membrane thus making the virus vulnerable.

Personally, I think that we will cure this one soon. But first, we will need drugs that can enter the marrow.

So my short answer is that we just don't know how these bugs work yet. Worse, our environment is so polluted with carcinogens that we are al lucky to still be alive. So, don't smoke. Try to eat organic. Practice safe sex. Avoid excessive red meat. Keep a clean house. Buy air cleaners. And do the best you can while still enjoying your life. This is the only one you get.

As far as a population control mechanism, they aren't very effective. A relatively small percentage of our population die from these diseases as compared to auto accidents. The interstate system might be a population control device!

These illnesses may indeed be a way that nature is using to control the population. If that is the case, then we should take heart: it is no longer survival of the fittest, but rather survival of the smartest. The lesson to be taken from the linked pages is to take your health into your own hands.

Actually they are working on a cure right now for AIDS. They're making a replica of the CCR5 Delta 32 gene. Which means that the cells don't have any receptors so the viruses can't get into the cells and infect the body. As for Cancer they're thinking that stem cell transplant will help cure it. My best friend Conor is going to try and find a cure for Cancer when he becomes a pediatric oncologist and I'm going to try for Epilepsy. There are so many different types of cancer that in order to find a cure they would have to find a cure for each one and then make vaccinations for each one meaning one person would be getting a LOT of shots and that doesn't mean that they wouldn't get it. But eventually there will be cures for all these diseases... but then there will just be more diseases we don't have cures for. So really it's just nature and fate...

First of all take a look at all of the diseases that used to be fatal. Diabetes used to be a death sentence. When is the last time you saw someone die from smallpox? Your belief that there should be a cure for every disease comes from the fact that we have found a cure or a way to control so many.

As more and more ways to prolong life are available the risk of developing other diseases increases. If a woman doesn't die in childbirth she may live long enough to develop breast cancer. An elderly man who takes an aspirin a day to prevent heart attacks will live to develop Alzheimer's. Death is one thing you can count on never going away.

Progress is being made in the quest for the cure for cancer. The new vaccine for HPV will prevent 70% of cervical cancer cases. The number of people who smoke is decreasing bringing down the number of lung cancer patients. The increasing number of women getting mammograms will ensure that breast cancer is caught sooner, increasing survival. A great deal of time, effort and money is going into finding better treatments and improving outcomes.

When it comes to AIDs I see prevention as the cure. You can't get it if you use protection.
