Thank you, JR, you the man. But as you can see from the answers it will be hard to get people to do that. Of course, still the liberals ( 1960's flower children, free love,etc.) took over our school system and decided that every child was going to have sex, and they pretty much told them it is OK.

And , of course, Aids and the other STD's wouldn't even be a factor.

These are also spread by blood transfusions and thru birth of those who already have the diseases. This would not cure the diseases it might HELP with the spread. For one thing, these diseases would still be spread through dirty needles and other non-sexual means.

Also, the abstinance you refer to would have to mean nothing past 2nd base, and no kissing actually because AID's can be spread if both partners have a cut in their mouth.

Also, what if a man cheated on his wife and she didn't know it? What if she contracted a disease from him, then got remarried and gave it to her new husband.

I think condoms would be just as effective. Not only that, they would also cure producing more children than you can afford to feed. Imagine that.

I have AIDS, and I'm Gay, and I think you need to keep your "opinions" to yourself. AND, you might also practice "walking a mile in the other guy's moccasins."

And, no it would not stop STD's from spreading simply because SOME STD's occur due to chemical incompatibilities between different people. As well, certain other viruses such as Herpes Simplex 1, which though transmitted sexually, can also be caught by swimming in an improperly cleaned pool, or even in a communal bath, like when you were a little kid in the play pool, or in locker room showers.

But, then again, all you "abstinence and monogamy" types are just burying your heads in the sand, anyway.

So, in short, I think you are wrong, and that you sound idiotic, too.

haha real funny, ok you're right if we all abstained from sex we wouldn't get stds but you know that's not going to happen. And if it's one partner what if that person have hiv then what? When people have sex both people should get tested for stds before hand and then use condoms anyway. It's also not a good idea to have sex with many people especially if you don't know them

It's a pretty idea, it would certainly pretty much eliminate any real spread of venereal diseases. But it's not so much the theoretical part that sucks as the practical one. Abstinence programs just don't work (which was recently embarrasingly obvious). They don't work among Catholic priests who have taken a vow of chastity and they're certainly not going to work among teenagers high on hormones, even if they sign a paper declaring they're not going to jump into bed with another teenager the first chance they get. This is what teenagers do.

I'm not saying abstinence programs should stop, but if it's all you're relying on then you're going to fail, even more than if you did nothing. Yes you also need contraceptives, and condoms provide the best protection against VD's.

I'm really surprised at the answers to this: it doesn't work and has failed, its only for people with sexual hangups, etc. All of that is untrue.

God designed sex to be had within the confines of marriage. Its a beautiful thing there and prevents all sorts of problems: STDs, teenage pregnancy, unwanted babies, sex-based relationships, et al.

And it makes perfect sense - why wouldn't you want to share the most intimate of times with the most intimate person in your life and only with that person? Its a beautiful thing, and unfortunately, we're seeing the bad fruit that's coming out of destroying a beautiful institution.

Condoms are not a garenteed way of preventing STD's like HIV. And condoms aren't garenteed to prevent pregnancy. Obviously, the only, one, garenteed way to prevent STD's or pregnancy is to not have sex. But it is impossible!!
