Probably not. It is bound to make a corporation very rich, though. I figure it will be a person working for a pharmaceutical company who makes the discovery. The company will get most of the rewards out of that. In fact, I highly doubt it will be just one person who makes the discovery. Probably a team of researchers.

Hopefully not, that is if we want sick people to benefit from the drug. People in research for the money are in it for the wrong reasons.

the cure for AIDS will not be a huge discovery that unexpectedly arises, this is something that will take groups of scientists from all over the world to solve...so no, the person who discovers it will not be richer than bill gates because it will not be a single person.

I doubt it! where would the money come from? Most of the sick people are very poor and wouldn't be able to pay for expensive meds, whereas most of the people who own computers are very rich and can afford to pay hundreds of dollars for overpriced microsoft software and pc upgrades and all sorts of things that would benefit dear old Billy.

A cure for aids would undoubtedly land you a nobel prize though. Bill doesn't have one of those, does he? I reckon that would be pretty awesome.

First of all, most of the people who have AIDS live in poverty and cannot afford even present day treatment.

Next, the processes needed to study the HIV virus are very expensive. Breakthrough discoveries will be made in a university lab or in a lab sponsored by big Pharma. Depending on contractural agreements, the scientists may get a modicum of the profits, but not nearly as much as the CEO.

In other words, the cure for AIDS is not going to come from a Harvard dropout operating a lab in someone's garage. (Or was that Steve Jobs. At my age I sometimes get them confused?)
