In response to B: The government does not get money for research. The government GIVES money for research. The government does not get paid for hospital bills. Hospitals get paid for hospital bills. The government has to PAY many people's hospital bills, through Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health-care programs.

I am so sick of these stupid government conspiracy theorists. If they put two additional seconds worth of thought into it, they would realize that they are talking out of their a$$e$.

So, the answer: No, there is no cure for AIDS. Once a person gets AIDS, he or she is essentially done for. AIDS is a conglomerate of symptoms and diseases that arise from the immune system being destroyed by HIV, the human immunodeficiency virus.

There are medications to prolong the length of time between someone's being infected with HIV and developing full-blown AIDS. These medicines are protease inhibitors, and also Interferon.

It is hard to cure any virus. The influenza virus--the common flu--cannot be cured. I don't see many conspiracy theorists griping about how there is no flu cure. There are precautions measures one can take, but it can't be entirely prevented. Most flus don't kill, but still people die from flu each year.

The problem with viruses is that they are nonresponsive to things that kill bacteria. Antibiotics destroy bacteria. Viruses are completely unaffected by antibiotics.

The best we can hope for in the near future is an HIV vaccine. The government is currently funding research on a vaccine. Whether or not one will be developed is anybody's guess.

The Aids VIRUS is suceptable to zidovudine, 3t.c. & other reverse transcriptase inhibitor drugs. Protease inhibitor drugs stop aids replication. (e.g. crixivan etc.), Also the new drugs that inhibit cyncitial blood cell formation. Report It

take it down a notch. you have no idea how the gov't operates, so dont pretend they have our best interest at heart when its painfully clear that they do not. MOST of the money directed towards AIDS doesnt come from our gov't, it comes from donor gov'ts. ones that arent in the U.S. itcomes from health organizations and fund raising groups, NOT the american gov't. get ur facts straight. the gov't doesnt pay hospital bills, taxpayers do. idiot.

None that I know but we have ways to prevent it. Hopefully, time will come somebody will be able to discover it.

I believe the cure is out there somewhere. Probably a natural cure in the rainforests we are killing to build and build

Your question shouldn't depend on people's "opinions"... It's a 100% fact that there is no cure for AIDs. There are just ways to make the patient more comfortable and lead a longer, happier life.

It's unfortunate that the 1st person who commented feels that way. Maybe he/she should stop believing in conspiracy theories and actually helping patients by donating money or time or anything.

Not yet but a combination of drugs can keep it from getting worse and can often reverse thesome of the damage. They are just now discussing a one pill a day regimen and pharmaceutical.
