Why do people say "AIDS is the cure"?

Does this mean that lung cancer is God's 'cure' to smoking, or that the bird flu is God's 'cure' to those that sell chicken?

I guess it depends on what you are tying to cure: your right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? It'll certainly do that!

they just mean that AIDS will teach us not to have unprotected sex, etc. I didn't know the saying had anything to do with God.

maybe you misheard the people, unless you are quite sure!!! there is a cure coming out though. they're were final testing it on monkeys, but some changes are being made.

when people live to promote hatred they tend to believe that death, murder, abuse, and disease cures lots of things.

They say "AIDS is the cure" because they believe AIDS runs among gays and gays alone, and they figure it'd get rid of all the gay people and that'd be it and perfect.

If AIDS is the cure, then it logically follows that God favors LESBIANS over all other people on the earth.

Lesbians have the least chance of ever contracting HIV.

I don't know...It sounds like a very hate filled claim. I could never be so mean hearted as to wish anything like AIDS as a "cure" against actions which I personally don't find morally right. For instance, I think pedophiles are the worst sort of scum we will ever find amongst humanity, but I don't wish them to suffer physically...cure means healing, not pain.

AIDS is the monumental failure of the world's health organization and a great example of what happens when you let religion guide public policy. The harsh lessons from doing nothing to contain HIV, for nearly a decade, are the reasons you probably don't know anyone who has died from SARS or Bird Flu. AIDS is the reasons governments move aggressively, today, to contain viruses and other pathogens. Statements like that say less about God and more about human indifference.

How could they possibly be "cures"if they aren't healing?God has nothing to do with this ,we take decisions therefore we have to suffer the consequences.God gives us free will ,he gave us the knowledge to recognize the do's or dont's.Bird flu is not from selling chicken.
