How much money to cure cancer/aids?

I read that we are spending over 600 billion dollars on the war. Has this much money even been spent on trying to find a cure for cancer or aids? Im not pro-war or anti-war, Im not pro-bush or anti-bush. Just curious

I worked at Roche Pharmaceuticals (Im not proud of myself for it with all the animal testing they do, but they fired me anyways so its cool). They are one of the main pharamaceutical companies that is supposedly looking for a cure but I wonder how much the actual government has spent. I realize that its not in pharmaceutical companies interest to find a cure since they profit more off the medicine they are selling now, but what about the actual government. Are they even looking for cures?

it isnt the amount of money we spend that will find a cure. We have to be partially lucky and spend a lot of TIME in labs

Of course a lot of money has been spent on searching for the cure. It's been years since scientists first started searching for answers. Even now we still haven't found a cure. Most likely we have spent that much

Much better to find the root cause, then avoid the contributing factors.

They found a cure for Magic Johnson????? There is no money in the cure, so why cure it. There is only money in a prescription to help it. That is why we are still searching.
