Why not send more money in for to help find an aids cure instead of sending our money to aids people in africa

whats up with all the money the united states sends to africa to help people with aids? what about the people in the uniteed states with aids? sence we are just throwing that money away any ways why not just donate it to scientist and people like that to help them find a vaccination or cure. then just send aficans medicine. but we are americans and we should come first shouldnt we?

What about diseases that are not almost 100% preventable and are not brought on by a person's own actions? My cousin's daughter has cystic fibrosis, and since she did not get it by sleeping with a stranger or sharing an infected heroin needle, there is very little help for her. Sorry, these days, AIDS is something most people go out and get. It's not something that just happens and cannot be prevented.

As for Africa, they should stop breeding and having more kids when they know they cannot care for the six they already have. Call it population control there.

To the poster below: The fact is, they go and have child after child after child knowing they cannot care for the ones they already have. I work hard for my money, I do not lie around with my legs open. Why should I have to pay for their actions?

Because finding a cure will take *years* (if ever). The people in Africa, and in many other third world countries, are dying *now*. The average life expectancy of adults in Botswana is the mid 30s because of AIDS (and Botswana is one of the richer countries in Africa because of their legitimate diamond industry). The world needs a cure, but until we find one, we can't just ignore the people who are suffering now if there's something we can do to alleviate it.

The people in America have far more access to health care and the drugs they need to help HIV and AIDS- residents of third world countries don't. Yes, we Americans are important too, but part of the responsibility of being a world power is coming to the aid of people who need it, especially when we have the means to do so.

And to the poster above: How dare you call it population control. That is amazingly heartless. One of the reasons they have so many births per woman is because so many of their children die from preventable diseases- not just ones they "go out and get" either- like chicken pox or measles. Millions also die from starvation and malnutrition. A woman may have seven children, but in most cases, only a few might actually survive to adulthood.
