Can't we just cure AIDS in africa through natural selection?

Just like the bubonic plague shouldn't we let people die until only those with a greater resistance to the disease emerge? What are we doing instead? Keeping people artificially alive and letting them pass onto the disease to others through ignorance. (I'm thinking about the misconception in one part of Africa that sleeping with a virgin will cure AIDS). It's best to cut the losses and let the doomed poor die sooner rather than in a slow agonizing death. Charitable no?

if your Girlfriend had aids or your sister or mother. Would you want them to die? Its not about that. Its the fact that they dont want to die. The true way to cure aids is to be safe and get checked regularly. But people dont allways do that. It takes everyone to unite as one on this matter and do the right things.

Well, I know a 1000's of years ago, all types of cats were almost extinct due to a type of feline aids. They over time developed an immune to the aids. Of course it took 1000's of years, but if they can do it, why can't we?

Natural Selection means an issue in a species is factored out OVER TIME.
Why don't you go to Africa yourself and explain your idea and see how people who work day and night in relief camps feel about it?

well africans cant seem to quit breeding with eachother so the way I see it, they can all just stay in africa with their aids and we can all stay in america where we won't ever have to deal with aids (providing you take steps to protect yourself)

Aids is not just an Africa problem! Plenty of people run around America giving other people aids just because they are mad they have it. And to just they people die? You have no heart. Maybe you should take a step out of subdivision and take your blinders off.

Anyway, Darwin's thoery of evolution due to natural selection is a little more complicated that you may think. Not only does it take many many generations, it would also take millions of dollars to speed it up, to confine/kill/get rid of all those people. Not to mention that even if you do confine them, what do you plan to do, starve them? Shoot them? Honestly, if you really thought this was such a great idea, why did you ask on yahoo? It sounds like you just learned about Darwin in your Biology class or something and think you can save the world! Well sorry to disapoint you, but unless you would like to pay for all this i doubt the govermant will. The U.S. is already $3 trillion in dept and even though a cure to AIDS is very important, the government doesn't care enough.
And yes, cats may have adapted to their disease, but HIV/AIDS virus evolves faster than you will ever imagine. Many people have to take multiple pills just to counter it, but the immune cells remain, and then they have to find a new medicine. There are only like 13 possible drugs on the market, and many of them have stopped working for many people.
So, i ask you, if you had AIDS, and you have a wife who doesn't, and you both want a baby, what would you want. WOuld you want to be quarentined and killed? Would you risk giving your baby HIV? Or your wife? YOu may think your plan is brilliant, but in the end, billions of people who had no say in getting the virus, like african woman who were raped, are killed. Maybe people like you should be quarentined too. Think before you speak.
