Wouldn't it be better if we raised all kids as atheists?

I mean, if a kid stops thinking that AIDS is god's punishment will grow up to discover the cure. And if when they grow up they want to become Christians at least they do so by choice

I don't think kids should be forced to believe or not to believe.

They should be provided the opportunity to explore and decide for themselves.

You'd need to have more than atheism to motivate someone to go and cure AIDS. You'd need some humanist teaching or something in the mix, too.

You know, "There is no god and we're on our own, but look how far we've come in just a few centuries! We can go farther still, put an end to famine and disease!"

It borders on religion, but it should be far harder to corrupt and use for evil than the idea of a condemning, judgemental god who burns the people that you don't like for eternity.

no it would not be better. They don't grow up being all happy and cheery, most are very depressed and stuff. I go to chruch every Sunday & all my friends that go 2 church every week have turned out to be very caring, respectable people. Everyone of them, &t his is because of religion.
