How long would it take for AIDS to kill a person?

If a person was infected with AIDS how long would it take for them to... pass? Since there is no cure for it. . .

It depends if the person knows that they are HIV+. If someone become infected, but has never tested to see if they are HIV+ it could take 10-12 years before they even have any signs of being HIV+. By this time it could be full blown AIDS.

If someone finds out that they are HIV+ with the medications on the market, the "cocktail" people can live a long time, I know people that have been diagnosed for 26 years and still have a good T cell count so they still are HIV+.

So much depends on the person, their diet, getting plenty of sleep,taking their meds, low stress, no illegal drugs or alcohol.

Aids starts as HIV which usually isnt detected for awhile since a person can go up to a year with no symptoms. If its detected early, medication can make the person live a pretty long life. Aids attacks your white blood cells or t-helper cells which effect your immune system and therefore the person will come sick quite frequently. Aids isnt diagnosed until those cells are at a certain low and after that a person is usually given 2-3 years to live.

It really depends on the persons immune system.

Once a person has progressed from HIV to AIDS, there is not much that can be done, and they will pass relatively soon.

The lowered T-Cells, and weakened immune system make it hard to fight off illness, and to stay strong and healthy.

I have an aunt who passed away from AIDS, so I sure do hope someday the cure is found so other people don't have to lose their family too.
