and they approved of that? Not quite the same as "inventing" aids, but maybe Wright had a valid point. Like our politicians who know what they are talking about, but often choose the wrong words to say it in.

No. Lets look at it this way. He was speaking to his congregation. As a black woman I understood everything he said and the context he said it. He grew up in government against black people for most of his life. He was speaking as a scared black man warning the younger generation. Racism does exist in the US if people like Elizabeth Hassleback could realize this it racism could be on the road to its death.

Are you serious--as soon as the nature of the epidemic became apparant many many dollars were spent on research. The reverend wright is quite simply a bigot, that which he claims he is fighting against. If you note, his sermons are full of invectives, anecdotal stories with the intent to inflame, inuendo--these are not the truth--these are self serving words from a self serving man. Biogtry occurs in every race--his philosophy is that a given population is entitled to be bigoted.

I think it is very vague to say that some white people this or that... some of any race of people are this or that... it is not a valid argument to say that some white people did not support finding a cure for Aids because it was killing black people.. there are others who did not support finding a cure for Aids.. Like those who are making a lot of money from "treatments" for Aids.. and just because some idiots are racists does not mean all white people are racists there for the validity of the argument is lost. Most people I know consider all humans to be equal, but I do know there are idiots still.. that does not mean we should stop trying to move forward with equality.. Throwing around mud does not clean up a mess.

Reverend Wright is just like a crazy uncle who says inappropriate things.

But now that you mention it, they can't even detect the virus in Majic Johnson's system anymore. Some say they've had a vaccine for a long time but there's no money in the cure. The theory I heard points to greedy drug companies... run by white men. Hmmmm...

He definitely picked the wrong words. He's supposed to be preaching about God's kingdom, like Jesus did - Matthew 24:14;Matthew 28:19&20. Not about political issues - John 18:36. And definitely not about hatred between the races - Acts 10:34&35.

The term is "Persecution Complex" and is not a healthy thing to feed.
The concept is that it's not fault you're poor...it's not your fault you're unhappy...it's not your fault your children refuse to study in school -- Whitey is holding you down!

Well that would be fine....but when asked about it, even after he had a chance to think about it, he said exactly the same thing. He says the US Government created HIV to kill minorities. He has never changed that stance.

I don't agree with what he said about aids and the government but I do believe he chose the wrong words in everything else.

Nothing like twisting his words he said the goverment invented Aids to kill blacks plain and simple stop making excuses for the slim ball
