Is it common to have hiv/aids?

3 months ago i had sex with my ex girlfriend. she's 18 and I'm 21. sadly after the contact...I've been diagnosed with gonorrhea and i think it's cured with antibiotics.
right now...my worry is...
is it common to acquire HIV/AIDS from gonorrhea or other std?
is there a big chance of getting it?
then, how many percent?

You can't get HIV or AIDS through gonorrhea. You can contract HIV through contact with someone who has HIV or AIDS.

In the US, as of 2006, there was about 450,000 people with who had been diagnosed with AIDS. About 1 million people had aids or HIV in 2006, so it's not common. It's something you need to be aware of though, and have your future partners get tested for STDS BEFORE having sex. :)

yes hiv/aids is a lot more common than you think. its not as common for a guy to get it from a girl, but it is still possible. from now on use a condom, because you never know. :)
stds are not bound to other stds as you said. but if one person has gonorrhea, i would think that the possibility that they have hiv would be higher since they may have been in contact with someone who hasnt practiced safe sex to get an std in the first place.

It is always possible to acquire HIV/AIDS when you practice unsafe sex. Gonorrhea and similar STDs increase your chances of acquiring HIV, but do not cause the disease.

If you're concerned, talk to your doctor and get tested.

uhmm i dont think so.

if you're diagnosed with ghonorrhea early and its taken care of, probably not.

not 100% sure though. ask your doctor?

The only thing that is common is if you have one std it's easier to catch another (like Hiv) than if you had no std's at all..that is if you come into contact with hiv

look after yourself bro, this could have just as easily been something you couldn't throw back

no
