When do you think the cure for herpes will be discovered?

I know AIDS is much more inportant them herpes but that still doesn't mean they won't try to find a cure for it, i have been looking online and it seems there coming close but i doubt they will release it for awhile sense all these medicines to help outbreaks are good $$ and curing it is much less expensive in the long run.

so i have a few questions

1) When do you think a cure for herpes will be discovered?
2) Has anyone done research on this topic and know more information about it?
3) Do you need to be a docter to want to later join and help the research for finding a cure? and i don't mean to donate money
4) Do you think there is already a cure someone place not in America and we just don't have it yet

Okay, first off I don't think you'll like my answer but you need to hear it.

There are no major pharmaceutical companies workign to cure herpes or any of the other non-fatal STDs. They are making billions of dollars every year treating it; so curing it would kill their income. (I'm not being cynical, it's sad but true)

Second, herpes is a virus, the specific problem with curing a virus has more to do with detecting it, with the medicine, and having a way to break it down.

As of today medical science has never cured or destroyed any disease caused by viruses. :(

There is no cure. And just like chicken pox, or any other virus there probably never will be. BUT! I did hear that they are coming out with a vaccine that will be available in 3-5 years.
