Life is bleak and you would be a liar saying its not

me being a nihilist, i see no point in life because there is no point. heres what life consists of
1.eating
2.working
3.entertainment
4.conflict
5.sleeping
6.sex
in the end it all means nothing. we all die either way so everything we do has no point. even curing cancer or aids because even after you do that, YOU STILL DIE. life is funny isnt it. pay for a cure to a disease yet you still die no matter what. everyone feels they have a meaning because of things that distract us from reality

movies,religion,games,impressing others.

the reason of me asking this question is to debate. for you to see if im right or your right. if you can convince me of a true meaning that actually means something then ill mail you 10 thousand dollars cash.

but yet after writing all of this i still can say i am happier than i could ever hope to be if i was blinded by any of these things

yes, can you show me a real purpose to life

I don't want your money, and I don't know whether or not I can convince you of the true meaning of life for we are all born with free will to choose or reject the life which Creator God meant us to have.
However, there is only one truth, and that one truth starts with God.

The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It's far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreas and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by His purpose and for His purpose. People look to themselves or other people for meaning and purpose but I can tell you now my friend that it can only be found in God, and through his purposes for your life.

The Bible says "It is God who directs the lives of His creatures; everyone's life is in His power."

Contary to what many popular books, movies, and seminars tell you, you won't discover your life's meaning by looking within yourself. You have probably tried that already. You didn't create yourself, so there is no way you can tell yourself what you were created for!

If I handed you an invention you had never seen before, you wouldn't know its purpose, and the invention itself wouldn't be able to tell you either. Only the Creator of the owner's manual could reveal its purpose.

You now have two options. Your first option is speculation. This is where most people are. They just guess or speculate or theorise about the purpose of life. Even the wisest philosophers are just guessing.
If you have a Bible please read 1 Corinthians chapter 1 v 18 onwards.
It speaks about this.

Your second option is fortunately a better alternative to speculation about the meaning and purpose of life. The easiest way to discover the purpose of an invention is to ask the creator to explain it. The same method works for discovering your life's purpose. You can find what God, your Creator, has revealed about life in His Word, the Bible.
Revelation beats speculation anytime.

God has not left us in the dark to wonder and guess. He has clearly revealed His purposes throughout the Bible. It is our Owner's Manuel, explaining why we are alive, how life works, what to avoid, and what to expect in the future.

God is the source of your life, so in order to discover your purpose in life you must turn to God's Word, not the world's best guesses. You must build your life on unchanging, eternal truths, not the ever-changing opinions of others.

Please contact me for further help if you wish.

you missed out excreting - we would be damned uncomfortable if we didn't do that. The point of life is living. What other point could there be? The tragedy is that so few actually make it - we spend our lives wishing that we were other than we are and therefore unable to see what actually is. So then we die without having lived and that is tragic.

God gave us free will to do what we want. What you do with your life is your choise. You can be as happy as you want to be or as misserable as you want to be. Life can only have meaning if you let it have meaning. One thing you need to remember Just because you don't see any meaning in your life that doesn't mean your life doesn't have meaning to someone else.

You can see for yourself that YOU have a purpose in life!

Your purpose is to convince others that life is worthless, so that they can commit suicide or something. Maybe become a mass murderer? The possibilities are endless for loosers who listen to a looser. Maybe you should take your own unspoken advise?

EDIT: No, you did not ask a question, you made a thinly veiled complaint about life being unfair to you. Not everyone agrees. Also, YES you were making a statement.

Life is NOW..... we have so much stress we cant enjoy it.
But after eating, a little rest and day dreaming is devine. After some work, an ice cream by the waterside and a long stare into emptiness is devine, after sex, a full hour of comtemplation is devine.
We should never come to the thought of death. It's unnatural.
You think animals ever worry about it???

yes life on earth has many trials -but i do not live for this world but for the next - heaven - my life belongs to god and no one else - and that is the reason i live -and because of that i am blessed - god bless u - may u seek him and find him

All the six elements of life you've listed seem to me like kinds of adventures. I guess life is bleak for the bleak-minded, and adventurous for the adventure-minded!

You forgot family. I was an atheist for the first 25 years of my life, then found God. God has given me a wonderful wife and 2 kids. Until you have this blessing, you may find life bleak and useless also.

About 300 million people live in the USA.

If you could get the other 5.7 billion could live that well, would you consider your life to have meaning?

Yes it's bleak but you and I have yet to commit suicide!!!

It's the ultimate game 'cos no one gets out alive!!!!

"we're born, we eat, we sh"拢, we f09K, we kill and then we die" marquis de Sade

You are still looking for external phenomena to show you a point to life, which is exactly the wrong direction to look.

I personally think that you are sad. Keep the money and forget the debate.

My opinion: Life without God is more than bleak- it is living death.

Is a question buried in there somewhere?

true but if the work you do here lives on after you die, would that help?

It could be the worst or the best that you ever get. It's up to you. goodpersontest.com

"The underlying assumption behind the claim that life is meaningless because it ends in death is that for something to be meaningful or worthwhile it must last forever. The fact that many of the things we value (such as relationships with others) and activities that we find worthwhile (such as working on a political campaign or raising a child) do not last forever shows that life does not need to be everlasting to be meaningful. We can also show that everlasting life may not be meaningful by providing examples of lives which last forever yet are meaningless. In Greek mythology Sisyphus is punished by the gods for cheating death by being forced to roll a heavy stone to the top of a hill. Just as the stone is about to reach the top of the hill, it rolls back down to the plain. Sisyphus is doomed to repeat this meaningless activity for eternity. The duration of our lives has nothing to do with their meaningfulness.

Death appears to render life meaningless for many people because they feel that there is no point in developing character or increasing knowledge if our progress is ultimately going to be thwarted by death. However, there is a point in developing character and increasing knowledge before death overtakes us: to provide peace of mind and intellectual satisfaction to our lives and to the lives of those we care about for their own sake because pursuing these goals enriches our lives. From the fact that death is inevitable it does not follow that nothing we do matters now. On the contrary, our lives matter a great deal to us. If they did not, we would not find the idea of our own death so distressing--it wouldn't matter that our lives will come to an end. The fact that we're all eventually going to die has no relevance to whether our activities are worthwhile in the here and now: For an ill patient in a hospital a doctor's efforts to alleviate pain certainly does matter despite the fact that 'in the end' both the doctor and the patient (and ultimately all life in the universe) will be dead."

I guess it all depends on what you find meaningful. I think each life has consequences that ripple forward in humanity and lives of others no matter how insignificant we may think our individual contributions are. Of course I would say that the researcher who might cure cancers acheivement is not at all meaningless to the many generations beyond him that no longer have to suffer. A well raised child who grows up happy and healthy and contributes positively to the society they are part of and people around them is also a meaningful acheivement I think. As for meaningful to the actual individual I would think anything that makes our lives more positive, joyful, and productive is adding meaning.

This is why we should not fall in love with this world because it is not our home. We have a choice to make here and we only have one chance to do it. The real question I have for you is where do you want to spend eternity? This will be your true home someday. The bible says that if we believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we shall be saved, We were separated from God from Adam and Eve, but "God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that those who believe in Him shall not perish but will have everlasting life"

Best Wishes.

Of course life is bleak - to you.

You're ignoring all of the good stuff;

Love
Friendship,
Hope,
Wonder
Laughter,
Beauty,
The joy of discovery.

The world doesn't really care about you as an individual.

You can go through life miserable or you can make it a joyous journey.

The world doesn't care either way.

Either way, you'll be dead at the end.

Personally, I'd rather enjoy the ride, but you're free to do what you want - the world will neither hep you to enjoy yourself, NOR WILL IT PREVENT YOU from enjoying yourself.

In the end, It's all up to you.

There is not an already given purpose to life, no.
From a purely evolutionary point of view, the reason why we exist is in order to pass on our genes and make babies.. However, we ourselves can turn it into something meaningful. At least that's my take on it.

People are different. They want to do different things, and they have different ambitions. What's good for some is meaningless for others. Anyways.. If you find something to do with this life that makes YOU happy, then that is YOUR purpose for it. It's a construct, indeed. But who says constructs cannot serve their purposes?
