'Spiritually speaking' Does anyone else think that $3.8 Billion was a waste of money?

I cant see how it is justified.. I really cant. No matter how much crap you try and feed me, you cant sit here and tell me that it is for a good cause. Who exactly is he helping?
I see my little 13 year old brother suffering from cancer, the doctors aren't even sure how to treat- and I hear about some 3.8 Billion dollars being spent on a machine that shoots a fricking beam around a room. WHY WHY WHY isn't that money being spent on something Important like trying to find a cure all for cancer? Maybe a way to prevent it? I can think of a million better things these super awesome scientists could be doing with that money.
Even if they spent part of that money on a disease they have declared as untreatable, it would be a more beneficial use.

I hear ads on the radio and tv talking about how much children in the country are starving... why not help them out?

Even tho I love science (not this evolution big bang BS) science we actually know and need , I just lost a whole lot of respect for the people we deam as "great scientists".

HERES WHATS REALLY GOING TO BAKE ALL YOUR NOODLES.All the mystery's mankind has yet to solve about our universe are all taught in the BIBLE.The BIBLE is loaded with perfect science.Why not teach it in schools.Now in many cases the BIBLE is being taught in schools.For instance if you teach evolution in your biology class you are indeed teaching the BIBLE already.Now in regards to the waste spending money on certain science projects.You are very insightful.We should take care of people before solving the mystery's in science.Yet sometimes learning science does benefit mankind.However we must prioritize the needs of society and do things in a more beneficial order that the needs of society are taken care of before the needs of science. No the LHC is not a waste of money, and may even lead to the direct cure of certain cancers (prostate).
Cancer research is not as specific as you seem to think. Many of my friends work in various aspects of research and though nominally funded by certain cancer charities all agree that if we had a full understanding at a sub-atomic level of life we could help re-adjust the bodies. Cancer is not an external disease like a virus but a process that naturally occurs in the body which has become rampant.

As to the injustices of children living in poverty and Aids research, these are really questions of societal absolution of responsibility; we allow fat cats to earn outrageous amounts and not tax them in the way we tax the poor.

Research has to be 'blue-sky' thinking. Teflon and micro-wave oven came out of the space program, as did MRI and CAT scan technology.

It is a good day for the progression of the sum of human knowledge and a great leap for human endeavour.

$3.8 billion is a small amount to pay for what will, I am sure, be the start of a fruitful and rewarding experiment
