I am running into a situation where i am being told by a lot of people that I should get disability because of?

my severe hearing loss, speech impediment, and a spinal injury (undiagnosed broken neck) that healed wrong. I went to my doctor to get forms filled out to verify my problems for the disability people. This doctor refuses to sign off on my disability and says I am not that bad off. He wasn't the one who made the diagnosis on my hearing or my spinal injury. My spinal injury causes me a lot of pain at times and causes me to lose strength in my arms and hands. My hearing can't be cured and I wear two hearing aids which help a lot but don't give me 100% hearing, I still have to read lips along with the aids. I need a special telephone to be able to use it. The state Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation says my disabilities are severe enough for them to offer services to me. How can I get a medical doctor to sing off on my disabilities so I can get disability? Also, I am 59 years old and most employers won't hire a person my age nowadays.

My brother-in-law got disability because he has narcolepsy (he can't stay awake at times).

Go to a specialist, the one, or ones, who diagnosed you. A primary care physician will usually not tell the truth anyway. I was born disabled, with Spina Bifida, Hydrocepalus, both hips dislocated, and Chiari Malformation, all of which should have entitled me to benefits before the age of 18, but because doctors wouldn't do what was required, and my father making too much money at the time anyway, I had to wait til I was 18 and apply, and was sent to one of their so called doctors who looked at me and said, get your benefits, you should have a long time ago. When you applied, did they tell you who to go to? Do they know your doctor will not sign off on your disabilities? If not, tell them right away.

just wondering what type of doctor did you go and see?
when l applied for disability, l went to my walk in clinic doctor and she said that she could not sign those forms an told me to go to my specialist doctor. so l took the forms to my RA doctor and he signed them for me.

If the next doctor don't sign ask do you have a disability.
Then tell him it your right if you have a disability.

different doctor and see what the rehab place can say and do might as well they will then realise they cant do much for you.

Go to a different doctor.Disability laws for SSI are changing.

Go to a different doctor.

I suggest that you go to a different doctor.

change doctors i went through so many drs trying to get dianoised with fibromyalgia, there are so many drs out there that do not care how you feel, keep going to different drs until they listen to you, that is what i had to do, It took me a year or better. to get one to listen, so, don't give up, It sounds like you are in a great deal of pain, can only imagine the frustration of not being able to hear, I would think that yours would be a handicap, i'm not a know it all, my fibromyalgia is a disablility , i don't have to have any devices to help me get around as of yet, but, that is coming. Hang in there and be patient. Good luck!

if you were younger--i might tell you to give voc rehab soem time.

but your health combined with your age make a strong case..

walmart might hire you to sit in a chair and say 'welcome to walmart' to everyone that comes in--but i couldn'rt see you workign many hours doign that--

was it a doc of your choice--than go to another doc

if it was a SS doc--than appeal

i coudl see how you work a few hours hear and there--but not enoguh to be disqualified for disability---for instance as a travel agent workign with people with disabilities...but who is going to train you how to do that job?

I would get a different doctor. Be prepared to transfer records. You can get assistance with a new doctor list through your insurance. Keep up with all paper work so when apply for Social Security it will be easier to fill out. Afyter they get paper work you get a face face interview. Then about 2 months a decision. It is ridiculus how slow. But then you have be on disbility for 2 years to qualify for Medicare unless you are below a certain income, in which you might get medcaid.
There is a right to work program for disabled persons. You might check it. Wal Mart is pretty good for hiring varity of help.
