A question about cancer and hiv / aids?

the world's top scientists and doctors have spent decades researching and looking for a cure for cancer, hiv and aids, and us people have donated countless sums of money. have we seen any real results?

Although there is no cure available to the public, there have been many advancements in both areas, allowing for a longer life and a better quality of life. Many treatments are now safer and more effective, and painful side effects can now be controlled or reduced by other medicines.

There are also rumors that a cure was found, but the government refuses to produce/distribute it as it would rid many people of jobs, etc. Personally, I believe this is all fallacy, but I've met many who believe rumors such as this.

If the fact that people now can live a "normal" life, and die old, instead of dying within monts is not real to you...

I guess you mean, what about a cure, or a vaccine? the thing about HIV is that it mutates, and changes so quickly, that any drug developed fails soon, and no way to make a vaccine for a virus that's already different (Am I making sense). A new antiviral was recently discovered; but other than that, HIV research is at a standstill.
A lot of investigation focuses on how to prevent getting the virus after exposure.

In my opinion no but im sure some scientist might disagree. Im sure you can find some statistics to find out somewhere on this cyber space.

I know that there is a pill for hiv that delays the effects of the disease. Sorry, I don't know much more than that.
