Why should we find a cure to AIDS?.. why should we want this problem to be solved?

Because it's a miserable terrible way to die.

Perhaps you are thinking "well, we have too many people on this planet now". If so, I agree with you- but it's by far better to prevent more births than to rely on disease or war to cull the population, which have been the traditional methods mankind and Mother Nature have used in the past.

If you are thinking that people who have it deserve it, and I've seen that sentiment expressed, then I have to agree with the first response.

UPDATE: I'm certainly glad you came back to clarify that this is a homework project! Without that perspective it did sound like a mean spirited question and we do get some people like that on here.

Besides the fact that it is a terrible way for someone to die, there are larger social consequences.In the more affluent world like N. America and Europe, there is generally soem kind of social safety net that will help families or indivduals who have lsot a family member or more than one. Even here though, those people are no longer contributing to society- but you can say that about anyone who dies too. But what about Africa, or China or other countries where there is not much support for those who are left behind after, say both parents die of AIDS? In Africa for instance, there are many elderly grandparents looking after several young children - they don't have the energy- or the food - to take care of all the children who are orphaned. Those children may suffer from malnutrition- there won't be money for schooling (it's not free there after aroudn grade 4 or 5). They won't grow up to have good jobs and produce wealth for their country. So the country will remain poor while others grow ahead. And there is an impact on the numbers of people- for instance, in the small African kingdom of Swaziland, if the current rate of AIDS deaths doesn't reverse soon, within about 40 years, there'll be no-one left alive.

EDIT: you may have wanted to put that it was a homework question in your original question because you sounds inconsiderate, ignorant and rude.

Because aids is a disease that slowly kills people and we want it solved because it's a disease that is transmittable to other people by various ways...

People in today's society are concerned about how they are going to die. They want to find a cure, so we don't have to die in such a cruel, vile way.
