Why is the health department keeping all orders of swine flu medication cure stored in secured wherehouse?

I just watched a report stating that there are 2 medications that cure swine flu. Dr. Jonathan Fielding - Director of the LA county Health Dept. stated that they are keeping 625,000 doses in a secured LA county wherehouse and will only pass some out to those with severe cases or hospital workers. Why can't they have factories produce them in mass and hand them out cheaply to everyone as a precaution instead of actling like God and treating this like an AIDS case where only the elite have access to the drug? It showed a Beverly Hills pharmacy where the pharmacist had a rack of prescriptions for the medication and had to backorder it but the rest of the public is discouraged from getting any unless AFTER they "are severely sick within a hospital environemtn" per the county health dept.

SO what, let them sell it on the black market. It's not crack it will save lives.

Some nefarious people would steal the Tamiflu and sell it on the black market.

Whoever produced that report has absolutely no idea what they are talking about. There is no cure for the flu (swine or otherwise). The prescription drugs they may have been referring to only inhibit the growth of viruses once you're infected. Taking the drug before you actually have the flu will do nothing to prevent your getting it.

There is ONLY 50 million Tamiflu doses in the entire USA.....USA population is 304,059,724 million
Only a little more than 15% of the population will be able to benefit from this "cure"

And this so called "cure" is not really a cure. It's a preventive medication for avian flu (bird).

It is a dangerous medication and needs to be given out by a Doctor...are you another paranoid Con? Why dont you just go dig a hole in the woods and come back in six months when it is over...you can bring your guns and your bible for company.

It takes time to create flu medications. They can't be instantly produced. Also, the pharma companies make little profit on flu medications and vaccines.

You can't be cured kids, you might get a stomach ache.

One, 99% of the population will likely never need it. Two, no, you can't just crank this stuff out.

It is not a vaccine...it is a treatment.

Currently there is no vaccine. Although researchers are currently working on it, or so it is being stated in the news media. The vaccine is anticipated to be tested on humans in a couple of months

It's not a cure, it's a drug that partially hinders the course of swine flu. And we don't have the factories in our country to make it, and it would be against scores of laws to steal the formulas from Tamiflu and the other drug for ourselves. The makers of those drugs are scrambling to produce as much as possible, and sell/give them to governments. The drugs are being stored in warehouses to make sure none is wasted, and it doesn't all go to the rich who want to be extra safe by having hundreds of doses of the drugs, and instead it is spread equally among any severely infected population.
