Why has the question of Religion become such a taboo?

I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses, (or working on becoming one) and I see how every religion in topic gets bashed on or brushed off as nothing. Why is that? Is it because everyone is scared of what's to come? I couldn't be happier about it. I may not make it into Jehovah's paradise, but if my family does, that's good enough for me. I'm not scared. This is the beginning of something that's great to come. No more sickness, death, war, hunger, or nothing. Peace, love, and security that so many government officials claim, but they never hold their ground to it. (which is so weird, because I'm a firm believer that the government has a cure for HIV/AIDS, but they're hiding it for population control. Conspiracy Theory!!! We are advanced enough to have it, so it makes sense.) I'm completely psyched for this armageddon to come, and I'm stoked for this world to be restored into it's original version.


Sorry, getting out of hand. So WHY is religion a taboo these days? Thoughts?

Religion is not so much as taboo - rather being a multicultural/global society we need to respect other Faiths & Cultures.

Unfortunately _some_ interpretation of _some_ faiths cannot accept other paths (including other sects of their own faith) as being equally valid as theirs. THEY see this as being some religious battle & inappropriately respond. People WILL respond to the inappropriate comments. Those being criticised will take the moral high ground thus creating the impression (or just insisting) that Religion has become a taboo.

It's about respect - not bullying.

I tend to sacrifice Jeovah's witnesses that ring on my door to Odin.
That's just if they keep proselytizing when I open the door with my hand-and-a-half sword in hand. They usually don't try it, most of them politely apologize and the rest of them just run the f*ck away.

I think many people consider it "taboo" because they don't know enough about it - it's simply unexplored territory for many. They either don't talk about it or bash it as much as they can. I absolutely ADORE discussing religion and would love to see it come more out in the open.

Its ok to talk about religion and express yourself, that is the whole point.
Jehovah's plan is awesome, i know Jah personally. The world is passing away so it will be rebuilt again under Jesus Christ's rule. The corruption, greed and intolerance which have plagued this world will be a fleeting memory. i think what people need to understand is that we must overcome ourselves to win.

I have a lot of difficulty with your utopian dreams...they are not logical or realistic...but I dont consider discussion taboo at all.


ps...why do you have to WORK to become a JW? Doesnt the bible say you are saved by faith and not works?

Fewer people are religious these days. Society promotes freedom but for many, that means freedom FROM religion, not freedom OF religion. Religion represents 'restraint' from immorality and a free society doesn't like restraints.

Oh, I thought I was the only one stoked to see my life and the world as I know it be reduced to ashes in a horrible, fiery hell - but there you go.

You see i read a lot about Jehovah's sect...they got what is called the Watch Tower.....somthing very strange.....
Anyway the answer is this any religion prohibits its followers to know or to gain knowledge about other religions....this happens because this religion or belief ..sorry is false....and they don't like others to think the people must follow them and listen to them and believe in what ever they say or do. Brainwashing process. This is the only thing you can tell about the Jehovah's group ....My advice to you is search....think read ...gain knowledge about all religions ...and follow the religion which teaches it's followers to think....to read to gain knowledge......
