Has anyone NOT died from aids?

Okay, has anyone in the world that has had aids, or HIV, and not died from it? Can you stabilize it? Is there a cure? Will there be a cure?

There is currently no cure for HIV, the virus that can lead to AIDS. However, medications can help many people who have HIV live longer, healthier, and increase the amount of time between diagnosis of HIV and diagnosis of AIDS.

HIV damages the immune system, killing cells our bodies use to fight infection. Once that cell count drops to 200 or below. As that cell count drops, the person becomes more vulnerable to other infections, and has more and more trouble fighting them off. Technically, people don't die from HIV or AIDS. They die because they get other infections (cold, flu, pneumonia, etc.) that they can no longer fight off because their immune system has been severely damaged.

The amount of time someone may live with HIV is a complicated one, and depends on many things, including how healthy they were before getting HIV, how their body is responding to the virus, whether or not they are seeing a specialist and following the specialist's advice (including taking medications as directed) and how their body responds to the medications.

One reason that there is no cure yet is that the virus mutates (changes) a lot, and one medication or vaccine may take care of a couple different mutations, but not all of them.

HIV weakens the immune system so it's hard for your body to fight infections and diseases. The majority of the time people with HIV don't die due to AIDS they die because they get sick and their body is too weak to fight. The life span for a person living with HIV is 20 years and the most famous person is Magic Johnson. Now it is possible to stabilize it through medication and a few lifestyle changes. Like get on a fitness plan, eat healthy, and stay away from people that are ill. Currently there is not a cure only medications to treat. The best advice is to make smart choices (like protection during sex) not to get it. Hopefully someday there will be a cure. Researchers around the globe have a better understanding of the virus now. Some are working on a cure while others are working on a vaccine.

when they die how would you know if it was from the AIDS or not? right now there aren't any cures but there are drugs and medicines that can help you live longer
