I would like some opinion about how to stop smoking with out the help of any other drugs?


I want to stop but not with the aid of anything else I would like to know if anyone has stopped cold

Well when I quit, I first figured out how many I was smoking, which was about a pack. I began by smoking 19, then after a few days I smoked 18.. etc until I was down to 2 a day.
It took about 3 months to actually get down to 2, and I held on to those 2 for a long time, a few more months, 1 when I woke up and 1 after dinner.
I finally was able to give up those last 2, just had to get that last push of will power.
A few other tips, get some mints, gum or something to put in your mouth, and drink lots of water. And try no to replace cigerettes with food, just keep a water bottle or mints/gum with you all the time and sip or take a mint if you get the urge to eat or smoke.

Everyone deserves a happy family. But the habit of smoking makes us to be unhappy. You love your dear ones more than anyone in the world whether he may be brother/husband, but how can you get him to stop smoking? Even you have a thought of quitting smoking, but fail to quit just like 19 out of 20 quitters do. There is one thing special in 1 out of 20. Let us consider his habits. First of all make a list of things concerned with the habit of smoking.

1. Why do you want to quit smoking? Are you really ready to quit smoking? Just for the sake of the near and dear ones do not make decisions.

2. Pick a good time to quit smoking. Don鈥檛 be fast to avoid smoking especially under times of stress and strain.

3. Destroy all your cigarettes. Throw out ashtrays and lighters from your home and car so that no part of you home appeals you to smoke.

4. Drink Lots of water and fluids to help wash out out the nicotine and other poisons from your body. Change your normal routine with simple exercises. Even a jog could be helpful.

5. Avoid alcohol, sugar, and coffee as these tend to stimulate the desire to smoke. Taking an oral substitute like cinnamon sticks, chewing gum could be a great aid in quitting smoking.

6. Have a balanced diet avoiding fatty foods. Eat slowly and wait a bit between bites. Consider having a cup of mint tea or a peppermint candy after dinner instead of smoking.

7. Every time you want to smoke, inhale the deepest lung-full of air and exhale very slowly something like a yoga technique to get relaxation.

8. Tell co-workers, friends, and family members that you are going to quit smoking and ask for their support. Ask them not to smoke in your presence.

9. Affirm yourself that you are a nonsmoker and be prepared for difficult situations and side effects like headache and depressions.

10. Be prepared to resist the desire for 鈥渏ust one cigarette鈥?otherwise you will again opt smoking instead of quitting.

Visualize yourself as a non-smoker. The sooner you start, the sooner you鈥檒l quit and the more LIFE and money you will save and the sooner you'll stop paying people to kill you!

i was on chantix for a week and went from 2 packs a day to 2 cigarettes,the yoga and gradual ideas are also great!

easy....

1. Designate only 3 times per day to smoke...perhaps after breakfast lunch and dinner.

2. Once you get this routine going consistantly, limit yourself to only 2 or 3 smokes per session.

3. Once you get this down consistantly...start smoking one one qauter less of a cigarette until you are smoking one cigarette per setting.

4. Smoke down until you are smoking one cigarette a day...just keep smoking down until one day...you'll be taking your last puff.....

i have been smoke free 2 yrs on august 8th i quit cold turkey, i smoked 1 1/2 packs a day i had lots of support, i ate fruit candy,used cinnamon toothpaste i rode a bike alot to get my mind off cigs and i took up other hobbies, please feel free to e-mail me id love to help you, its tough for the first 2 wks but you can get thru it, i did. good luck to you.
