Can someone help me please ?

I am a 19 yr old h.s. graduate who is severely struggling to get into college. ive been out of school for 2yrs due to financial matters. I didnt plan to do so , and I have made several attempts to get into a community college. But I want to go away to experience more than just N.Y. I didnt take the S.A.T's or A.C.T's. my 1st 2 yrs in H.S. were not good but i got it together and ended up graduating on time with a few honors. i would like to enroll in a good university but based on financial issues and the requirement of most schools I become very discouraged an lose hope. i am the first in my small family to graduate H.S. much less to consider college, so my small family isnt much help. My dad is retired an my mom gets disability checks, an they dont file for taxes, but i still live with them so im not sure as far as financial aid if im classified as an independant, im currently goin through a name change to get my fathers last name, oh my god my story is too much to put on yahoo, honestly i am breaking down an losing sight of my hopes an dreams, im so depressed that during an emotional breakdown i was considering suicide. i am surrounde by drugs , offers to make fast money, and consistant violoence, i cant figure things out , i do need help, plz help before i give up and end up doing something that will either end or ruin my life, thank you for your time , hope to get a response and solution soon. bye bye for now.

The best thing you can do is to find several colleges you are interested in attending and then apply to them. When you apply to them, you need to apply for financial aid as well.

Finances shouldn't be an issue unless you are wanting to apply to an Ivy League college - apply for financial aid...www.fafsa.gov or www.fafsa.edu (can't remember) - you can put the schools you are interested in applying to.
As far as your parents not claiming taxes, that might be an issue, but you might qualify to be an independent student. - Call one of the universities you are interested in, and tell them your situation as far as your parents.

If you cannot get into a university because of your grades, then the VERY BEST THING you can do is to go to a community college for a year and get A's in your classes. This will raise your GPA up higher.
Also, if you attend a CC first, most of the time you can apply to univerisity as a non-traditional student, and you don't have to take the SAT or ACT's.

OK, you can still take the sat most university's are looking for that, stay in community college talk to a Conley about transversing to a 4 year university, and you should get in to any school if you study hard and stay focused.
