How is it that good fathers are always punished by the court system while terrible mothers get rewarded?

I have had 7 years of hell with my ex-girlfriend who has custody of my son. She has admitted to physically abusing my son, doing drugs in his presence, emotionally and mentally abusing him, yet, the childrens aid society will do nothing about it. She has broken every (12) court order granted to me. I went to court to fight for full custody and contempt and my only "reward" was losing $3000.00 in legal fees. Her reward; she watched me blow my money, and the judge "let her off". My son is constantly covered in bruises and my ex's response is "kids play"....and everyone believes her. I LOVE MY SON SOOOO MUCH.....Why do go honest, loving, caring, fathers always come last, even when the women hurt, lie, manipulate, and destroy good children.

I do feel for you...I really do...However I on the other hand am the great mom who has been fighting with the family courts for 4 years over a rotten father and they won't do crap about it. He deserves his rights blah blah blah. I am sure you hear that kind of crap too...Gets pretty sickening! The only thing I can offer is keep fighting. Have you gone to Child Protective Services due to the physical abuse?
What about taking him to his pediatrician and showing him the bruises? Are there any lawyers in your area that will accept pro bono (free) work?

Maybe you're going to the wrong people for help. First off, believer that there is a higher power out there that if you believe in enough, these terrible things will cease happening to you and your son. Try certain figures in your community to get help. Go to your local television station. Not every father with good intentions gets screwed, just like all the women out there are not the devil incarnate. I wish you the best in your situation. Don't give up.

ur right the good people come last but that's what happens every day court see that she gave birth she must have that mothering instinct that's what i thing they are looking at by to be honest the best why to help ur son is to get him to admit to a child care aid or legal represent what his mother is doing around him to him the could even put her away for what she has been doing the best defense is a good offense build up evidence against her

easy the legal system sux!!!!! It goes the other way too good mothers are being punished while horrible fathers get off! im going through about the same thing my ex just got visitation rights after 2 yrs of me taking his rights because of sexual abuse i am now facing jail time from keeping my kids from a convicted sex offender who has already molested our son tell me how any of this makes sence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps take pics of all the bruises and see if he will let you tape record him telling you what happend build up the evidence and take her back to court no judge could turn down that evidence

I am so sorry to hear about your situation. It is very unfortunate that in today's society, the courts still think it better to have the children stay with their mother rather than their father. It sounds to me like you've done everything you can while trying to remain the "adult" in the situation....however, to me it sounds like you need to start playing dirty ball with her. Do everything you can to prove her as an unfit mother. When you pick your son up, if he has suspicious looking bruises, take him to the ER (preferrably a children's hospital) and report to them that you believe your girlfriend is beating your child...they'll get children's services involved and then you'll have legitimate proof from an outside source that she is unfit to care for your son and the courts will have no other recourse but to award you custody. Some other things you may want to do is make an anonymous phone call to the police that you believe drug activity is taking place at her residence...again, that way if the police pay a surprise visit and find drugs in her home with her son present then they'll call children's services, etc. etc. etc. Believe me, when children's services has doctors and the police breathing down their necks, then they'll do something about it. I don't know how they are in your area but in mine, if the hospital call them and shows them photos that they took of your son's bruises, then that's proof enough to haul her butt into jail.

It's going to be a painful road to go down but it's what you need to do...having an unbiased party showing proof to the court is far better evidence than you trying to prove it yourself.

By the way, my Dad was caught in the same situation that you're in right now and that's how he got custody of me...please don't give up the fight because had my dad just let my mother win...well, I'd hate to think of the person I could have turned out to be and where I'd be right now. women always win. until her family takes her to court there is little hope.but maybe she will piss off the wrong person or will have a person of authority catch her. i hope things change soon but don't give up.
