Is buying sleep aid online illegal?

Basially I work at night, needed sleeping meds to regulate my sleeping patterns, so I bought a pack of zolpidum online, but it was detended by U.S custom and border,
It gave me two choice
1, I agree to voluntary abando the imported controlled sustance
2. I request that CBP commence seizure proceedings, it says I am asking CBP to institute a formal legal process to allow me to contest the non-release of controlled substances in which I have interest. In making this election, I understand that I must provide evidence of a written authurization from the Drug Enforcement Administration to import the controlled substances to obtain relief from the seizure,

Can you explain this law to me, it's for personal time adjustment use, not for distributions or selling, how can I get it back?

If I choose 2, what do I need to do?

choose 1 and get it or another similiar product from a doctor..............self medication is not a good idea........

if you think that buying and importing prescription drugs without a prescription from another country and then transporting them through the federal mail was a good idea then maybe you need a different kind of medicine.

Personally, I would agree to #1, that way you are not admitting to anything. If, in the future you need a sleep aid, try some Benedryl, they'll do the trick as well and with less problems of importing them. First, of all they were illegally obtained by you through the Internet. Second, they can be deadly if not used properly and they can be habit-forming and possibly addicting.

BTW, I work at night, too and I take Benedryl and they allow me to get to sleep fast and sleep all night long, at least 6 hours at a clip, which I know you are not able to get now. Good luck, with your sleep problems.

No, it's not legal. Choose option 1. If you mark 2, you're going to have to hire a lawyer to fight the seizure, and you'll have to show that DEA has given you permission to import it, which they haven't.
