Are Hysterical Conservatives Advocating the Imprisonment of Bogota Denny Hastert?

In 1997, Rep. Dennis Hastert (R-IL) led a delegation to Colombia at a time when U.S. officials were trying to attach human rights conditions to U.S. security assistance programs. Hastert specifically encouraged Colombian military officials to 鈥渂ypass鈥?President Clinton and 鈥渃ommunicate directly with Congress.鈥?br>

Subsequently, U.S. Ambassador to Colombia Myles Frechette sent a cable complaining that Hastert鈥檚 actions had undermined his leverage with the Colombian military leadership.

In other instances, Hastert actually guided congressional staff to unilaterally reach deals with Colombian officials:

House Foreign Affairs Committee staff, at the direction of the Hastert group, would fly to Colombia, meet with the nation鈥檚 anti-narcotics police and negotiate the levels and terms of assistance, the scope of the program and the kinds of equipment that would be needed. Rarely were the U.S. diplomatic personnel in our embassy in Bogata consulted about the 鈥淯.S.鈥?position in these negotiations, and in a number of instances they were excluded from or not even made aware of the meetings.

Your point is well made and fair - to an extent. The real reason Bush and his buddies are upset is because they feel her trip embarrasses the President. They're right, it does embarrass him and I'm glad that he's finally embarrassed about SOMETHING.

I have no idea what "hysterical conservatives" are advocating. But hysterical Liberals are advocating the defeat of America at the hands of Islamic fascist.

1997 is Clintons Adm where everything was allowed, this is President Bush's where everything isn't
allowed!! She misquoted Israel actually downright said something they were suppose to have said and never did. That jeopordizes relationships the dumb broad.

Foreign policy is the realm of the Executive Branch, not the Legislative Branch of government. ANY Senator or Congressman/woman that impedes the foreign policy efforts of ANY administration should be severely rebuked. The President was elected by the people and foreign policy is his job, not Congresses, no matter what Congress thinks about his policies. If Hastert did that he was wrong, just as I believe Pelosi was wrong. And for the record I tend to be more Conservative on issues.
