How can I get to sleep when every night I'm just not feeling very tired? |
I have always slept very soundly. For the past 2 or more years I was on Klonopin for anxiety. The Klonopin became an addiction for my body and I stopped taking it with the assistance of doctors and I took their advice to a "T". Now my body is off of this drug and I can't get a good nights rest. (Yes, there is still anxiety, however it has only improved since getting off of this.) It has been roughly 2 weeks since I have slept without the help of a sleeping aid (either over the counter or prescription). I do not want to become addicted to a pill for sleep. I have tried the warm milk, I have exercised my body into the state where I should literally not be able to move my body, I have sprayed lavendar scents, I have axed the TV at night and opted for dark and quietness, I have tried deep breathing. I am looking for an out-of-the-box idea. FYI, I am going to see my doctor for this problem, however that won't be possible for at least another week, so in the mean time, I'm asking for ideas. I too was on klonopin for a long time. It took me months to get back to a regular sleep pattern. What I did was try very hard to wear myself out physically all day long. Then I set a certain bedtime ritual. I take a relaxing lavender bath. Drink some sleepytime tea. Read for half an hour and lie down. At first I tossed and turned for a long time. Now I drift off in a matter of minutes. Hope you find your perfect sleep ritual. put some alcohol in you. you can eat yoghourt A shot of nyquil will take you down easy! Try putting a few drops of lavender essential oil on your pillow. The smell of this is meant to help you relax. Also, stress is a big part of not being able to sleep. Have you tried yoga? This is also meant to help you relax. try drinking hot mint before bed, ginger and cinnamon are also good. boil some water then add the herbs you choose in it after it boils. leave it for ten minutes to warm out then drink it. P.S do not boil the herbs, just the water. I have same issues. Sadly, I cant suggest anything more since it didnt work work w/ me either. =( |
