How come AIDS runs rampant through heterosexual sex in countries such as Africa, while in America it's primarily contracted from IV drug use and homosexual sex?

Did you not just read about the study published in the United States stating that almost EVERYONE in the US should be tested for HIV? Hello.....AIDS/HIV are not just affecting the gays, lesbians and drug users, our older population are getting it as well with the help of of erectile dysfuntion medicine and passing it around because they feel no need to use birth control, atleast that is how HIV/AIDS started being more prevelant in the older population.

What about teens? AIDS and HIV are very high statistically for both boys and girls.

Open your eyes and study the whole disease as an epidemic of the people, try not to stereotype.

There are actually different strains of HIV, the most common one in Africa has mutated so it is spread most easily through heterosexual sex, while in North America the most common strand is the one that is most easily transmitted through homosexual sex.

It all has to do with the receptors for the disease and the types of cells that will come in contact with the HIV through the various types of sex.

That is not to say that a woman cannot get it in North America, from a bisexual partner or from a heterosexual partner. HIV can be a tricky disease and anyone can end up with it if they do not take correct precautions.
