Waiting for pain relief?

one of my patients is an 11 year old manboy who's seriously ill with AIDS. Bobby has a history of drug and alcohol use. his father abandoned tyhe family, and his mother recently died of AIDS. His guardian is an aunt who doesn't visit often. Bobby constanly complains of pain, but its never located in the same place. one minute his feet. he has and order for oxycodone and acetaminophen (perocet) tablets, p.r.n and ussualy receives medication every 4 to 6 hours. But he keeps demanding more. Because of his history of substance abuse, I'm concerned about this behavoiur. is this an ethical issue?

Would almost appear this way. Give a drug that not harmful but not telling him it is mild, then see how he reacts.

Poor kid- how about someone sending him cheer up cards,
or pen pal.
I would if could give me his address to send cards of hope to him.
