When I take it I quit breathing naturally. If I fall asleep I wake up gasping for air. I have to concentrate to breath in and breath out. Usually last about 45 minutes. I'll splash water on my face and watch TV until it passes. Of course I don't take it anymore. Tylenol PM and all over the counter sleep aids use this same drug. I have actually met someone who had an allergy to Benadryl. It's a really bizarre allergy, but it does happen.
If you are looking for a sleep aid, try chamomile tea with valerian root. You can buy tea and the liquid valerian separate, or a tea containing both (links below). Liquid, use one dropperful per cup of tea.
If you need an antihistamine, try Claritin (loratadine). I would advise going with the name brand, though. I myself bought generic, and it wasn't effective. After the fact, I spoke with several people who had the same problem with the generic version. |
